Dog, owner reunited after years apart

Gardner, Mo. -- A Missouri woman said a no-kill animal shelter reunited her with a Siberian husky mix she had not seen in two years.

Dana Klint of Gardner said she saw photos Saturday on the Web site of Mission shelter Pet Connection and immediately recognized the dog as Faith, a 15-year-old mix she had left with an ex-boyfriend nearly four years ago and hadn't seen in two years, The Kansas City (Mo.) Star reported Wednesday.

"I was in tears when I found it was really her," Klint said.

Pet Connection officials said the canine, which had apparently been living on the streets for several months, was positively identified using photos Klint possessed that showed the dog's distinctive markings.

Russia to test Mars lander for 2011 flight

Moscow -- Russian scientists say they're preparing to test an unmanned lander for a 2011 mission to Phobos, one of the moons of Mars.

The Phobos-Grunt spacecraft will land on the surface of Phobos, take soil samples and return them to Earth, RIA Novosti reported Friday.

"The aim of the test is to narrow down the lander's projected impact location on the surface of the Earth," a statement by Russia's Central Aerodynamic Institute said.

"As far as the lander ... does not include any signaling equipment ... narrowing down its projected impact area will make the search for it easier," the statement said.

Expert: Garage sale photos worth $200M

Fresno, Calif. -- An art appraisal expert says a cache of negatives bought for $45 at a California garage sale were created by Ansel Adams and are worth about $200 million.

Rick Norsigian bought the 65 glass-plate negatives of nature images at a garage sale 10 years ago in Fresno, Calif., and has been attempting to prove their value ever since, said Tuesday.

Appraiser David W. Streets said he believes Adams took the photos between 1919 and the early 1930s, long before he became a famous artist in the 1940s, CNN said.

"This is going to show the world evolution of his eye, of his talent, of his skill, his gift, but also his legacy," Streets said. "And it's a portion that we thought had been destroyed in the studio fire."
