Abdul not heading to 'Star Search'

Los Angeles -- Pop singer and television personality Paula Abdul could not reach a deal with ABC to headline a new version of "Star Search," The Hollywood Reporter said.

Abdul left her post as a judge on "American Idol" after last season because she and the Fox singing competition show's producers could not agree on a new contract.

The TV talent show "Star Search" debuted in 1983 with Ed McMahon as host and ran through 1995. It had a brief revival with Arsenio Hall as host from 2003-04.

The Hollywood Reporter said it is unclear whether ABC will bring it back again now that Abdul won't be serving as judge or host as the network had hoped.
