MLB: Atlanta 8, Houston 2 (10 innings)

Houston-- Omar Infante delivered a tie-breaking RBI double to ignite a six-run, 10th-inning rally Wednesday, giving the Atlanta Braves an 8-2 win over Houston.

The Astros scored in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra frames, but the Braves quickly put together a big inning, launched when Infante smashed a pitch from Brandon Lyon (6-5) off the left field wall to drive in Rick Ankiel with the go-ahead tally.

Alex Gonzalez later connected for an RBI single and Brian McCann capped the outburst with a grand slam homer off Jeff Fulchino to turn the game into a rout and hand the first-place Braves a victory in the rubber match of a three-game set at Minute Maid Park.

MLB: Atlanta 6, Washington 3 (10 inn.)

Washington, Sept. 27: Atlanta scored three times in the top of the 10th inning Sunday to beat Washington 6-3, capping a three-game sweep.

In the pivotal inning, Brian McCann's ground out drove in the game-winner and Omar Infante delivered a two-out, two-run single.

Yunel Escobar had two hits and one RBI.

Two others also had one RBI, while Chipper Jones added two hits for the Braves, who have won 10 straight on the road, one shy of the franchise record, maintaining their slim post-season hopes.

The winner was Mike Gonzalez (4-4).

Closer Rafael Soriano earned his 27th save with a 1-2-3 10th.

Washington's Ryan Zimmerman and Josh Willingham hit back-to-back first-inning homers.

MLB: Atlanta 3, New York Mets 2

New York, Aug. 20: Kenshin Kawakami won his first game since July 8 with a seven-inning stint Thursday and the Atlanta Braves held on to nip the New York Mets 3-2.

Kawakami (6-9) outpitched Johan Santana, allowing the Braves to keep pace with Colorado in the National League wild-card race. Atlanta trails the Rockies by four games.

In his six previous starts, Kawakami had gone 0-3 with three no-decisions. He limited the Mets to a run on seven hits while striking out five.

Rafael Soriano allowed a two-out single in the ninth before nailing down his 18th save.

New York, Aug. 19: Brian McCann capped an eight-run second inning with a three-run homer Wednesday as the Atlanta Braves trounced the New York Mets 15-2.

Atlanta, which had 18 hits, reached its season-high run total.

Matt Diaz drove in four runs, including the first two of the big second inning. He also hit a two-run homer in the sixth after Adam LaRoche's solo blast.

The game marked the second straight between the teams to include an eight-run inning. The Mets had one Tuesday when they beat the Braves 9-4.

Jair Jurrjens (10-8) allowed two runs on eight hits in six innings in his first victory since July 22.
