MLB: San Diego 6, Atlanta 4 (12 innings)

Atlanta -- Nick Hundley came off the bench to deliver a two-run, two-out double in the 12th inning Wednesday, giving the San Diego Padres a 6-4 victory over Atlanta.

The Padres rallied with two runs to tie it in the ninth, and then emerged with a victory that moved them past the Braves by a half game for the best record in the National League.

Chris Denorfia singled to lead off the San Diego 12th against Kris Medlen (6-2) and then stole second while Tony Gwynn was swinging at strike three for the second out of the inning.

Oscar Salazar was walked intentionally and Hundley came in to bat for winning pitcher Tim Stauffer. Hundley doubled home both runners on a 1-1 pitch.

MLB: San Diego 5, Colorado 4

Denver, Sept. 25: RBI singles by Nick Hundley and Tony Gwynn completed a San Diego rally in the eighth inning Thursday and gave the Padres a 5-4 win over Colorado.

The Rockies let an early 3-0 lead get away and fell six games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the race for the National League West title.

Colorado still leads both Atlanta and San Francisco by 3 1/2 games in the NL wild-card chase.

Troy Tulowitzki staked Colorado to its early lead with a three-run homer in the first, but the Padres fought back to tie it through seven innings. Chase Headley opened the eighth with a single off Joe Beimel (1-6) and moved to second on a sacrifice by Will Venable.

MLB: Colorado 11, San Diego 10

Denver, Sept. 23: Brad Hawpe's three-run homer Tuesday keyed a 14-hit attack for the Colorado Rockies who outlasted San Diego 11-10.

Clint Barmes had a two-run inside-the-park homer to help Colorado move five games ahead of San Francisco in the National League wild-card race. Todd Helton and Dexter Fowler each added three hits for the Rockies.

Matt Belisle (2-1) got the win after three innings in relief of starter Jorge De La Rosa, who was rattled for six runs in 2 1/3 innings.

Cesar Ramos (0-1) took the loss in his first Major League start.

MLB: San Diego 12, Atlanta 5

Atlanta, Aug. 26: A two-run single by Luis Rodriguez highlighted a six-run sixth inning Wednesday that rallied San Diego to a 12-5 decision over Atlanta.

The Braves took a 3-0 lead into the sixth, but then saw the Padres score their 12 runs over the final four innings. San Diego banged out 18 of the game's 30 hits.

Atlanta slipped out of a second-place tie with Florida in the National League East and fell eight games behind Philadelphia for the division lead.

David Eckstein and Adrian Gonzalez each had three hits and two RBI for the Padres.

Will Venable and Nick Hundley had run-scoring doubles in the big sixth inning.

San Diego went 9-for-21 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12 men.

MLB: San Diego 2, Atlanta 1

Atlanta, Aug. 26: David Eckstein's two-out double in the 12th drove in Nick Hundley from second Tuesday to give San Diego a 2-1 win over Atlanta.

The Braves, down to their final out in the ninth, forced extra innings when Adam LaRoche drove in the tying run off closer Heath Bell.

Atlanta then wasted a chance in the 10th by leaving the bases loaded, and San Diego finally came through in the 12th against Kris Medlen (3-4).

Hundley opened the inning with a double and, after Tony Gwynn struck out, Luis Rodriguez drew a walk.

Evereth Cabrera struck out to give the Braves a chance to escape the inning, but Eckstein doubled on Medlen's first pitch.

MLB: San Diego 4, St. Louis 0

San Diego, Aug. 22: Clayton Richard threw six shutout innings and struck out six Friday in San Diego's 4-0 victory over St. Louis.

It marked the Padres' first win over the Cardinals in 11 tries.

St. Louis entered the contest having won 11 of its last 13 games. But Richard and four relievers cooled the Cards.

Richard (7-3) has gone 3-0 since he came to the Padres in the trade that sent former NL Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy to the Chicago White Sox.

Nick Hundley gave the Padres the lead with a three-run homer in the second and they added a run in the eighth on an RBI single by Kevin Kouzmanoff.

Kyle Lohse (4-8), who pitched four innings, gave up the Hundley homer.

MLB: Seattle 4, San Diego 3

San Diego, June 18: A throwing error by catcher Nick Hundley allowed Franklin Gutierrez to score the go-ahead run Wednesday and Seattle went on to nip San Diego 4-3.

The critical error came in the fifth inning and neither team could score the rest of the way, resulting in the Mariners grabbing their second straight inter-league win over the Padres.

Gutierrez opened the fifth with a walk off Chad Gaudin (2-6) and moved to second on a sacrifice by pitcher Garrett Olson. Ichiro Suzuki's single advanced Gutierrez to third, from where he scored when Hundley threw wildly to first trying to pick off Suzuki.

The other three Seattle runs came in the fourth, when Ken Griffey Jr. doubled home Russell Branyan and scored ahead of a home run by Jose Lopez.
