NHL's Winter Classic

NHL: Tampa Bay 3, Vancouver 1

Tampa, Fla. -- Martin St. Louis scored twice in the third period Tuesday, delivering the Tampa Bay Lightning a 3-1 victory over Vancouver.

Tampa Bay got its other goal from Steven Stamkos, who also picked up an assist.

Goalie Antero Niittymaki registered 39 saves as the Bolts won their fourth straight game and seventh in nine tries.

St. Louis's first goal -- an unassisted, short-handed tally -- put the Lightning up 2-1 at the 2:52 mark of the final frame. He then scored an insurance goal on a feed from Stamkos with 4:20 left.

Ryan Kesler lit the lamp for the Canucks, who lost three of their first five games on a 14-game road trip.

The Canucks' Roberto Luongo allowed three goals on just 19 shots.

NHL Winter Classic heads to Boston

Boston -- The Boston Bruins will face the Philadelphia Flyers next season in the NHL's Winter Classic Jan. 1, Commissioner Gary Bettman announced.

The New Years Day contest between the Eastern Conference rivals will be played on the infield at Fenway Park, the home field of baseball's Boston Red Sox since 1912.

"A unique event deserves a unique venue, and we are delighted the Bruins and Flyers will renew their rivalry with the 'Green Monster' providing the backdrop," Bettman said at news conference. "We welcome our fans, our teams, our sponsors and the great city of Boston to this annual celebration of our sport. In a very short time, the Winter Classic has become a hallmark of the NHL season."
