 News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) MySpace is trying to do what Friendster, Tribe.net, Bebo, and any social network that squandered its 15 minutes has failed to do. In trying to regain relevance, MySpace is hoping that last month's website makeover will bear fruit in the coming weeks.

 

News Corp. makes two Internet deals

New York -- U.S. media giant News Corp. said Monday it would purchase Skiff LLC and Journalism Online, strategically increasing its options for Internet publications.

Skiff, an independent firm owned by Hearst Corp., formats material for tablet computers and other mobile devices, The Wall Street Journal reported. Journalism Online gives publishers the option of charging readers for content posted on the Internet.

News Corp. owns Dow Jones & Co., which produces The Wall Street Journal.

Times, Sunday Times to charge for online content

At a time when the newspaper industry has seen a decline in advertising revenue, News Corp. is gearing up to explore an additional revenue stream. In a move to counter losses suffered during the past year, the media giant's international units will be charging users for accessing their Web sites.

Hulu to be subscription-based service

New York, October 23 -- Soon the services offered by premier Internet video site Hulu will come with a subscription tag. Of late, News Corp. has been giving indications that Hulu will charge for at least some of its films and TV shows.

News Corp. reports loss, cuts profit forecast

New York, February 6: News Corp., the gigantic media company which owns, The Wall Street Journal and the Fox broadcast network announced on Thursday, that it has registered its first loss in the last three years.
