Stallone, Freeman set for Hollywood Awards

Hollywood -- Sylvester Stallone and Morgan Freeman are to be honored at the upcoming 14th annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards, Starz announced.

Stallone is to receive the Hollywood Career Achievement Award and Freeman and his producing partner, computer scientist Lori McCreary, will be recognized with the Hollywood Innovator Award.

Tom Hooper is also to be presented with the Hollywood Director Award at the ceremony Oct. 25 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Actor Morgan Freeman's divorce finalized

Jackson, Miss. -- Morgan Freeman's divorce from costume designer Myrna Colley-Lee, his wife of 26 years, has been finalized, Mississippi court records show.

"There's no waiting period, there was no trial and they reached an amicable settlement," Freeman's lawyer, William R. Wright, told E! News. "He is just happy that they can both move on."

Freeman, 73, has starred in the films "The Dark Knight," "Million Dollar Baby" and "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves."

Wright said the actor's divorce was finalized Wednesday. The terms were not made public, E! News said.

Freeman, Streep star in Haiti relief PSA

New York -- Morgan Freeman, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep and Reese Witherspoon will appear in a TV spot calling for support for Haiti's earthquake victims, organizers say.

Also starring in the public service announcement for The Advertising Council and American Red Cross are Jake Gyllenhaal and Tim McGraw, organizers said.

In the television PSA, the celebrities encourage Americans to support relief efforts for Haitians impacted by the earthquake by donating to the American Red Cross. Viewers are directed to visit www.redcross.org, call 1-800-HELP-NOW or text "HAITI" to 9-0-9-9-9 and $10 will be given automatically to the American Red Cross.

Freeman spent time with Mandela for role

Los Angeles -- Actor Morgan Freeman says he spent more than a decade preparing to play South African President Nelson Mandela on the big screen.

The 72-year-old movie star earned Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations this week for his portrayal of the iconic leader, known in South Africa as Madiba, in the current release "Invictus," which is based on John Carlin's book "Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game that Made a Nation."

Freeman settles car crash lawsuit

Los Angeles -- A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit a woman brought against Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman regarding a 2008 car crash, court records show.

TMZ said the terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Demaris Meyer said she sustained broken bones, bruises and lacerations when she was a passenger in Freeman's car after he lost control of the vehicle on a Mississippi highway.

Meyer claimed Freeman, who broke his arm, elbow and shoulder in the wreck, had been drinking alcohol before the incident, but no criminal charges were filed against the "Million Dollar Baby" Oscar winner.

"We're all glad it's over with," Freeman's lawyer told TMZ about the settlement.
