Angels fans attempt blanket record

Los Angeles -- The Los Angeles Angels Tuesday game against the Minnesota Twins featured an attempt to set a record for largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets.

Fans attending the game at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., were given blankets featuring the name and number of Hideki Matsui, a designated hitter recently acquired from the New York Yankees.

Team officials said a Guinness World Records adjudicator would be on hand for the moment during the game when fans were instructed to don the blankets to determine whether the previous record -- set March 5 at a Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game, when 17,758 people wore fleece blankets -- had been broken.
