Astros' Bourn suspended for two games

New York -- Houston outfielder Michael Bourn was given a 2-game suspension for making contract with an umpire while arguing a call, baseball officials said Tuesday.

Bourn was suspended and fined an undisclosed amount for his action in a game last Saturday. He was called out on a close play at first and protested to umpire Alfonso Marquez.

During the argument, Bourn was ejected from the game and then bumped the umpire, an action he told the Houston Chronicle was "accidental."

The Astros said the disciplinary action would be appealed so Bourn won't serve the suspension unless the ruling is upheld through that process.

Bourn is hitting .284 with 15 runs scored and 11 stolen bases this season.
