MLB: Cincinnati 10, Houston 4

Houston, Sept. 26: Joey Votto drove in four runs and Cincinnati roughed up Houston for 17 hits Friday en route to a 10-4 drubbing of the Astros.

Votto hit a solo homer in the first, his 23rd of the year, and climaxed a five-run second with a three-run double.

Jay Bruce tacked on a solo homer in the fifth, helping boost the Reds to their fifth straight victory. At one point in late August, the Reds were 20 games below .500. Their current winning streak has brought them within eight games of the break-even mark.

Matt Maloney (2-4) took advantage of the offensive onslaught to get the win. He allowed two runs on six hits in seven innings.

MLB: Cincinnati 3, Florida 2

Cincinnati, Sept. 18: Darnell McDonald homered during Cincinnati's three-run first Thursday and five pitchers made the lead stand up in a 3-2 decision over Florida.

Since the final day of August, Cincinnati has won seven in a row, lost five straight and now has won five out of six.

After McDonald opened the first inning with his home run against Anibal Sanchez (2-7), the Reds loaded the bases and Jay Bruce delivered a two-run single to shallow left.

Matt Maloney (1-4) gave up two runs over five innings to earn his first major league victory in his sixth start.

Ramon Ramirez, Arthur Rhodes, Nick Masset and Francisco Cordero then combined to throw four innings of one-hit relief. Cordero picked up his 38th save.

MLB: Colorado 3, Cincinnati 1

Denver, Sept. 9: Jason Marquis turned in a solid start and Eric Young hit a solo home run for Colorado in the Rockies' 3-1 win over Cincinnati Tuesday.

Marquis (15-10) limited the Reds to one run on four hits and struck out seven in 7 1/3 innings to match his career high for wins and carry the Rockies to their seventh win in eight games.

Young went 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Todd Helton and Carlos Gonzalez each drove in a run on sacrifice flies.

Matt Maloney (0-4) took the loss despite giving up one run on four hits.

Joey Votto drove in Cincinnati's only run in the eighth on a groundout with runners on second and third.
