MLB: Minnesota 3, Oakland 2

Oakland, Calif. July 22: The Minnesota Twins knocked off the Oakland Athletics 3-2 Tuesday with an RBI triple by Michael Cuddyer in the top of the 10th inning.

Cuddyer drove in Joe Mauer from first base with a drive off the wall in right-center field off Andrew Bailey (3-4).

Matt Guerrier (5-0) pitched two scoreless innings for the win in relief of Anthony Swarzak, who held the A's to two runs on four hits in seven innings.

Oakland's Dallas Braden also went the first seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits.

The A's scored a pair of runs in the third inning to take the early lead. With runners on second and third, Adam Kennedy grounded out to bring one run home.

Orlando Cabrera drove in the second run with a single.

MLB: Minnesota 4, Detroit 3

Minneapolis, July 4: Nick Punto's second hit Saturday, a single with one out in the eighth inning, boosted the Minnesota Twins to a 4-3 win over Detroit.

The hit came off losing pitcher Brandon Lyon (3-4).

Justin Morneau had four hits including a fifth-inning solo homer and an RBI single that tied the score at 3-3 in the seventh. Michael Cuddyer hit a fourth-inning solo homer for the Twins, who have won three of four.

The winner was reliever Matt Guerrier (4-0).

Closer Joe Nathan earned his 22nd save with two strikeouts in the top of the ninth.

Minnesota starter Francisco Liriano yielded three runs and five hits in seven innings with two walks and eight strikeouts.

MLB: Minnesota 7, Milwaukee 3

Milwaukee, June 24: Joe Crede drove in three runs and Carlos Gomez added two more Tuesday in Minnesota's 7-3 inter-league win over the host Milwaukee Brewers.

The Twins outhit the Brewers 12-8 and scored all seven of their runs in the first three innings while roughing up losing pitcher Jeff Supan (5-5) to the tune of nine hits in five innings.

Crede's three-run double in the first inning staked the Twins to an early lead. Milwaukee answered in the bottom of the first with two of their own on Mike Cameron's two-run single with the bases loaded.

Both teams scored a run in the second. Brendan Harris singled in a run for Minnesota, and the Brewers made it 4-3 on an RBI double by Casey McGehee.

MLB: Minnesota 2, Chi. Cubs 0

Chicago -- Anthony Swarzak and two relievers combined on a five-hit shutout Saturday when Minnesota recorded a 2-0 inter-league win over the Chicago Cubs.

Minnesota scored on Jason Kubel's second-inning solo homer and Joe Mauer's RBI single in the top of the third.

Three others had one hit for the Twins, who have won the first two contests in the three-game series at Chicago's Wrigley Field.

Swarzak (2-2) surrendered the four hits in seven innings with a walk and six strikeouts.

Matt Guerrier pitched a perfect eighth, while closer Joe Nathan earned his 15th save despite giving up a hit in the bottom of the ninth.

Derek Lee had two of the five hits for the Cubs, who have lost four in a row.
