Atlanta, Sept. 29: Jorge Cantu singled home the winning run Tuesday when the Florida Marlins posted a 5-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves.
Cameron Maybin hit a two-run homer and Chris Coghlan had three hits and two runs scored for the Marlins.
With four games remaining, the Marlins would need to win all four and have Colorado lose all of its remaining games for Florida to reach the playoffs. The Rockies hosted the Brewers Tuesday night.

Washington -- Yunel Escobar's two hits and three RBI Saturday boosted Atlanta to an 11-5 rout of Washington.
His two-run single was part of a four-run first.
One of two hits by Brian McCann was a two-run ninth-inning homer.
Chipper Jones, Garret Anderson and Adam LaRoche all had two hits and one RBI.
Matt Diaz had one RBI, while two runs scored on Washington errors for the Braves, who have won five in a row and are three games back of Colorado for the National League wild-card lead.
Winner Tommy Hanson (11-4) surrendered four runs and four hits in seven innings with a walk and seven strikeouts.
Mike Morse led Washington with a three-run, fifth-inning homer.

Atlanta, Sept. 18: A three-run homer by Brian McCann in the fifth put Atlanta in front Thursday and the Braves went on to their seventh straight win -- 7-3 over the New York Mets.
Atlanta remained 7 1/2 games behind Philadelphia in the National League East, but moved a half game in front of Florida for second place in the division. The Braves also closed within 4 1/2 games of idle Colorado for the lead in the wild-card race.
New York rallied to tie it at 2-2 after four innings, but Atlanta quickly regained the lead in the fifth.
Nate McLouth and Martin Prado singled off Nelson Figueroa (2-6) and McCann came through with a two-out homer to right. Consecutive singles by Yunel Escobar, Adam LaRoche and Matt Diaz accounted for another run in the fourth.

Miami -- Matt Diaz had a two-out single and Omar Infante hit a go-ahead two-run triple Monday to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 5-2 win over the Florida Marlins.
Florida's Josh Johnson (13-4), who had a no-hitter through five innings, held the Braves scoreless through six but Atlanta scored three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
Yunel Escobar was 2-for-3 with a run batted in and Chipper Jones had a hit, walked and scored twice for Atlanta, which temporarily gained sole possession of second place in the NL East. Florida, which has lost four of five, fell 8 1/2 games behind.
Kenshin Kawakami (7-10) earned the win after limiting Florida to one run on six hits in six innings.

Atlanta, Aug. 27: Javier Vazquez struck out six in seven shutout innings Thursday and drove in two runs as Atlanta cruised past San Diego 9-1.
The Braves avoided a three-game sweep and moved into a second-place tie with Florida in the National League East. Atlanta and Florida trail Philadelphia by seven games for the division lead.
Vazquez (11-9) allowed five hits and did not walk a batter in winning for the sixth time in eight decisions.
Atlanta scored five times in the second, with the first two runs coming in on a bases-loaded single by Vazquez. Matt Diaz also had RBI singles in the second and third.
The Braves prevented what would have been the first three-game series sweep in Atlanta for the Padres in 20 years.

Atlanta, which had 18 hits, reached its season-high run total.
Matt Diaz drove in four runs, including the first two of the big second inning. He also hit a two-run homer in the sixth after Adam LaRoche's solo blast.
The game marked the second straight between the teams to include an eight-run inning. The Mets had one Tuesday when they beat the Braves 9-4.
Omar Infante, one of four Braves with three hits, drove in three runs.
Jair Jurrjens (10-8) allowed two runs on eight hits in six innings in his first victory since July 22.

New York, Aug. 18: Gary Sheffield and Luis Castillo each had three hits and two RBI Tuesday and the New York Mets had eight runs in the fourth inning of a 9-4 win over Atlanta.
Jeff Francoeur was 3-for-5 including an RBI double in the fourth, when New York tied a season-high for runs in an inning.
New York's Oliver Perez (3-3) gave up four runs on five hits in five innings. It was his first victory in his last seven starts.
Braves' starter Derek Lowe (12-8) came in sporting a 5-0 record in his last seven starts but gave up eight runs and 11 hits in just 3 2/3 innings.
Matt Diaz hit a three-run homer and Adam LaRoche a solo homer for the Braves.

Atlanta, Aug. 17: Ryan Howard drove in all of Philadelphia's runs with a solo homer and a three-run shot Sunday to lead the Philadelphia Phillies past Atlanta 4-1.
Phillies' starter J.A. Happ (9-2) sat out a rain delay of 1 hour, 37 minutes, and then went on to carry a three hitter into the eighth inning -- giving up just one run on a solo homer to Matt Diaz.
In 7 2/3 innings, Happ allowed six walks and struck out three. He lowered his ERA to 2.66, best among all rookies in Major League Baseball this season.
Brad Lidge got Omar Infante out on a popup to end the game and get his 23rd save.
Diaz had two of Atlanta's four hits.
Javier Vazquez last (10-8) took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Los Angeles, Aug. 9: Martin Prado's three hits and two RBI Sunday keyed Atlanta's 8-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, giving the Braves three wins in the four-game series.
Prado hit an RBI single in the top of the third and his two-run single was part of a five-run ninth.
Matt Diaz had three hits -- one a solo homer -- and two RBI, and Ryan Church and Adam LaRoche added one RBI each for the Braves, who won the last three games of the series and have won five of six overall.
Winner Javier Vazquez (10-7) surrendered a run and five hits in eight innings with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Los Angeles, Aug. 7: Andre Ethier hit a three-run homer off Rafael Soriano in the ninth inning Thursday, rallying the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 5-4 win over Atlanta.
The Braves appeared headed for their third straight win, one that would have moved them within three games of San Francisco for the lead in the National League wild-card chase.
Soriano, however, was unable to retire a batter in the ninth.
Juan Pierre reached on an infield single to open the inning and Rafael Furcal singled to right, sending Pierre to third.
Soriano (1-3) missed the strike zone with his first two pitches to Ethier, who then hit his 23rd homer of the year.

San Diego Aug. 5: Martin Prado drove in three runs Tuesday in Atlanta's 9-2 romp over the San Diego Padres.
Prado's solo home run in the fifth inning proved to the game winner, but the Braves tacked on four runs in the sixth to nail down just their second win in their last seven games.
Atlanta out-hit San Diego 17-4, while Javier Vazquez (9-7) picked up the win, giving up two runs on six strikeouts, four hits and two walks over seven innings.
Tim Stauffer (1-3) took the loss with three runs on eight hits over five innings.
Will Venable homered for the Padres, who had won six of seven coming into the game. His solo shot in the first inning gave San Diego a brief 1-0 lead.
