MLB: Tampa Bay 3, Baltimore 0

Baltimore, Sept. 18: Wade Davis threw a complete-game shutout for his first major league victory Thursday, bringing Tampa Bay a 3-0 victory over Baltimore

The four-hit performance by Davis provided a bright spot in an otherwise dismal late-year slump that had seen the Rays lose 13 of 14 games.

Davis (1-0), who spent most of the season with Class AAA Durham, threw seven innings in his major league debut last week. He did not figure in the decision in that game, then gave up eight runs in just 2 2/3 innings in a loss to Boston.

MLB: Boston 7, Baltimore 5

Boston, Sept. 9: A three-run double in the seventh by Victor Martinez put Boston in front Wednesday and the Red Sox produced 15 hits in downing Baltimore 7-5.

Baltimore took a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the sixth but the Red Sox then tied it on an RBI single by Dustin Pedroia and took the lead on the bases-loaded double by Martinez.

Boston maintained a two-game lead over Texas in the chase for the American League wild-card berth. The Red Sox are nine games behind first-place New York in the AL East with 23 games remaining.

Matt Albers (2-5) came on in the seventh for Baltimore with the score tied and gave up a leadoff single to Kevin Youkilis. Mark Hendrickson relieved Albers, struck out David Ortiz and then gave way to Danys Baez.

MLB: Baltimore 12, Seattle 4

Seattle, July 8: Luke Scott had three hits and seven RBI Tuesday, fueling Baltimore's 12-4 romp over the Mariners in Seattle.

Scott had a single, triple and home run in the 11-hit Orioles attack. Nolan Reimold added another three RBI on two hits.

The Mariners led 3-2 after one inning of play in which the pitching on both side took its lumps.

Baltimore's Mark Hendrickson (4-4) picked up the win in relief of Jeremy Guthrie, who lasted 2 2/3 innings and gave up three runs on two hits and four walks.

Chris Jakubauskas (5-6) took the loss, giving up four runs on four hits 1 1/3 frames, after taking over for Erik Bedard in the fifth.

MLB: Baltimore 6, Philadelphia 5

Philadelphia, June 20: Brian Roberts hit a two-run homer during a three-run ninth inning rally Saturday to give the Baltimore Orioles a 6-5 inter-league win over Philadelphia.

Roberts had four RBI, Gregg Zaun had a solo homer and Aubrey Huff had an RBI for the Orioles, who left 14 men on base but still won for the sixth time in their last seven games.

Mark Hendrickson (2-4) got the win with two-thirds of an inning in relief.

George Sherrill pitched a perfect ninth for his 14th save.

Ryan Howard had a pinch-hit three-run homer and Chase Utley and Greg Dobbs each had an RBI for the Phillies who scored all five of their runs in the seventh inning.
