Kapalua, Hawaii -- Lucas Glover shot a two-under-par 71 Saturday to hang on to his lead at the SBS Championship heading into the final round of the PGA season-opener in Hawaii.
Glover, the defending U.S. Open champion who won the SBS last year, has been atop the leader board for all three rounds at the windy Kapalua course and held off a late charge by Geoff Ogilvy on Saturday.
Glover birdied the 18th hole for a three-round score of 17-under 202, one stroke ahead of Ogilvy.
Ogilvy took the lead at the turn after back-to-back bogeys by Lucas and finished the round with a five-under 68. But Glover was able to find his putting stroke and birdied 14, 16 and the par-5 18th.

Kapula, Hawaii -- Lucas Glover, hoping to follow up his 2009 U.S. Open title with a big season in 2010, grabbed a three-shot lead Friday midway through the SBS Championship.
Glover fired an 8-under 65 over the Kapalua Resort Plantation Course for a two-day total of 131. Only one member of the 28-player field failed to break par for 36 holes.
After playing a nine-hole stretch on Thursday in 9-under, Glover put together a 9-under burst of golf over a 12-hole span Friday. That run included his third eagle of the tournament, coming at the par-5 ninth.
"We were talking in the locker room before the round about whether we had ever been to Hawaii and seen this little wind," Glover said. "The course played pretty easy. I am going to have to keep making birdies."

Kapalua, Hawaii -- Lucas Glover opened with a double bogey Thursday and then turned in a sensational nine holes of golf to take the lead after one round of the SBS Championship.
In the first round of the PGA Tour season, the current U.S. Open champion stumbled out of the gate. Beginning at the fifth hole, however, he made two eagles, five birdies and two pars over a nine-hole stretch and turned in a 7-under 66 at the Kapalua Resort course.
The tournament is open only to players who won on the PGA Tour last year and the field consists of just 28 players.
Among those not competing are Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods, who is on an indefinite break from golf because of the tumult involving his personal life.

Washington -- Lucas Glover, Hunter Mahan, Ryo Ishikawa and Adam Scott were captains' choices Tuesday to fill out the United States and International Presidents Cup teams.
Glover, the U.S. Open champion, and Mahan, who was 2-3 in his first Presidents Cup and had a strong showing in last year's Ryder Cup, were considered safe choices by United States captain Fred Couples.
Ishikawa, a Japanese teenager who turns 18 next week has three wins on the Japan tour, and Scott, an Aussie mired in a slump that has caused him to miss 10 of 18 PGA Tour cuts this season, are considered by observers to be a gamble by International captain Greg Norman.
Couples passed over such players as Scott Verplank, Brian Gay and Heath Slocum.

Akron, Ohio Aug. 7: Padraig Harrington kept his lead at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Friday, while Tiger Woods failed to make a charge in his bid for a fifth victory in 2009.
Harrington made changes in his swing after winning two major championships last year and promptly began to struggle.
A 64 in the opening round, however, gave him confidence those changes are paying off and he added a 69 Friday at the Firestone Country Club South Course.
His 7-under 133 total gave him a one-shot lead over Tim Clark and a two-shot advantage over Scott Verplank.
Woods, who won the Buick Open title a week ago, settled for a 70 on a day when 27 members of the 80-player field had better scores. Woods, though, was well within challenging range at 2-under 138.

Akron, Ohio Aug. 5: Tiger Woods will seek his second consecutive victory beginning Thursday at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational.
The event will be played at the Firestone Country Club's South Course, where Woods has posted six victories.
After missing the cut at the British Open, Woods added last week's Buick Open to his schedule and rallied over the final three rounds to his fourth win in 11 appearances this season.
That victory came against a field that included only one other member of the top 10 on the FedEx Cup points list. This week, however, 49 of the top 50 players in the world will be present.

Farmindale -- Lucas Glover, winner of a lone PGA Tour event, emerged from a marathon of golf Friday with a one-shot lead early in the second round of the U.S. Open.
A crowd of unexpected challengers seized on advantageous playing conditions and a fortunate tee time to give themselves a chance to win the year's second major championship.
Tiger Woods was among the less fortunate, finding himself 10 shots out of the lead.
Half the field did not compete Thursday, when rain suspended play before noon. After those who played in the bad weather Thursday finished off their opening round Friday, the rest of the players made one trip around the Bethpage State Park Black course and then embarked on their second round.
