New Orleans -- The manager for Lil Wayne said the rap star wanted to keep a low profile while taking in a basketball game in his hometown of New Orleans.

Friday's game between the New Orleans Hornets and Miami was the first for the avid NBA fan since his release from New York's Rykers Island, where he was locked up in March on a gun charge.

The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune said Sunday that despite the intensive coverage of his release by celebrity Web sites, manager Cortez Bryant told the newspaper the newly freed star wanted to be a "discreet" courtside presence.

Lil Wayne himself had little to say to reporters at the game other than he was pleased to be home and planned to "live life the right way."

New York -- Jailed rapper Lil' Wayne appeared in an Arizona court Monday via video to discuss a plea deal for a 2008 drug arrest, officials said.

The hip-hop artist is currently serving a 1-year prison sentence in New York for weapons charges in a separate 2007 case and couldn't attend the Arizona hearing in person.

Lil' Wayne is expected to appear in Yuma County Superior Court to confirm the plea deal for the Arizona charges after he is released from prison, CNN said.
The recording artist could receive 36 months probation in exchange for his guilty plea, the news network said on its Web site.

He was arrested in 2008 after the drug ecstasy was allegedly found in his backpack on his tour bus.

New York -- Rapper Lil Wayne was formally sentenced in a New York court Monday to a year in prison for attempted criminal weapons possession, officials said.

MTV News said the hip-hop star began serving his sentence immediately after the hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court. He reportedly could be released as early as October depending on his conduct in jail.

The sentencing was part of a plea deal Lil Wayne reached with prosecutors last November regarding his 2007 arrest after a gun was found in his tour bus.

The incident was reported by MTV News, which said it was unclear when the hip-hop star's sentencing would be rescheduled.

The New York Fire Department said a boiler in the basement of 100 Centre Street in Manhattan may have been responsible for the fire, which filled the courthouse's lobby with smoke and forced an evacuation of the building.

NY1 said five firefighters, two civilians and one criminal suffered minor injuries as a result of the fire.
