Birmingham, England -- Top-seeded Li Na, last year's tournament runner-up, completed two wins Friday and made the semifinals of the Aegon Classic in England.
Li finished off a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 third-round victory over Angelique Kerber before taking a 6-4, 6-2 quarterfinal match from Kaia Kanepi, who also played two opponents Friday.
Li managed five service breaks on Kanepi, wining nearly half the points on Kanepi's service despite the Estonian's six aces.
Li lost in the 2009 Aegon Classic final to Magdalena Rybarikova.
Second-seeded Maria Sharapova also qualified for the semifinals in straight sets, knocking off Sesil Karatantcheva 6-2, 6-4. Sharapova fired seven aces -- and had three double faults -- and didn't suffer a break of serve.
