Bristol Palin 'not heartbroken' over Levi

Hollywood -- Bristol Palin "tried to make it work" with Levi Johnston, the father of her child, but they "aren't meant to be," she told Jay Leno in Hollywood.

"I'm not disappointed. I'm not heartbroken," Palin, the eldest daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, told Leno on NBC's "Tonight Show" Friday.

"I tried to make it work for my son. It didn't work, and I realized that we're not meant to be, and I'm just focused on being a good mom," Palin said.

Leno asked Palin about Johnston's purported plans to run for mayor of Wasilla -- where Sarah Palin was mayor from 1996 to 2002.

"He needs to move to Wasilla, to the city limits, and he needs to get his GED," Bristol Palin responded with a laugh.

Los Angeles -- Unlikely celebrity Levi Johnston is running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, and the campaign and election are to be captured on a reality show.

"Entertainment Tonight" said Johnston hopes to take over the office held by Sarah Palin before she went on to become governor of Alaska and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate.

Johnston is a Wasilla native, the ex-boyfriend of Palin's 19-year-old daughter Bristol and the father of her toddler-age son. The couple recently reconciled and announced their engagement, but then quickly called it off amid reports Johnston was more in love with the media spotlight than the younger Palin.

Los Angeles -- Bristol Palin, the daughter of former U.S. vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, and her fiance, Levi Johnston, have split a second time, sources told E! News.

The sources said the breakup followed a fight between the Alaska natives over one of Johnston's ex-girlfriends, E! News reported.

The younger Palin, 19, and Johnston, 20, are the parents of a 19-month-old son named Tripp.

Neither Palin nor Johnston has publicly commented on the latest split, E! News said.

New York -- Levi Johnston's mother, Sherry, says it would kill her to be left off the guest list of Levi's wedding to Bristol Palin.

Johnston and Palin, the 19-year-old daughter of former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, recently told Us Weekly they are engaged again, but they don't have the blessings of their families.

Levi, 20, is the father of the younger Palin's 18-month-old son, Tripp. The couple called off a previous engagement shortly after the child was born in December 2008.

Mercede Johnston, Levi's sister, told TV's "Inside Edition" in an interview to air Thursday that her family found out about the engagement through the media.
