MLB: Colorado 4, St. Louis 3

Denver, Sept. 27: Todd Helton, Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez had two hits and one RBI apiece Sunday, helping the Colorado Rockies to a critical 4-3 win over St. Louis.

The win helped Colorado stay 2 1/2 games ahead of Atlanta in the NL wild-card chase.

Helton's RBI single snapped a 3-3 tie with one out in the bottom of the fifth.

Winner Jorge De La Rosa (16-9) gave up three runs and four hits in five innings with three walks and eight strikeouts.

Closer Huston Street earned his 34th save, despite giving up two hits in the top of the ninth.

Albert Pujols led St. Louis with a three-run third-inning double. Julio Lugo added two hits for the Cardinals, who had clinched the NL Central with a 6-3 victory Saturday.

MLB: San Diego 4, St. Louis 0

San Diego, Aug. 22: Clayton Richard threw six shutout innings and struck out six Friday in San Diego's 4-0 victory over St. Louis.

It marked the Padres' first win over the Cardinals in 11 tries.

St. Louis entered the contest having won 11 of its last 13 games. But Richard and four relievers cooled the Cards.

Richard (7-3) has gone 3-0 since he came to the Padres in the trade that sent former NL Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy to the Chicago White Sox.

Nick Hundley gave the Padres the lead with a three-run homer in the second and they added a run in the eighth on an RBI single by Kevin Kouzmanoff.

Kyle Lohse (4-8), who pitched four innings, gave up the Hundley homer.

MLB: St. Louis 4, Cincinnati 1

St. Louis, Aug. 11: Matt Holliday had a triple, an RBI and a run scored Monday for the St. Louis Cardinals, who beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-1 for their fourth straight win.

Holliday is hitting .459 with four homers and 16 RBI in 16 games with the Cardinals since being acquired from Oakland.

Brendan Ryan, Khalil Greene and Colby Rasmus each had an RBI for St. Louis.

Kyle Lohse (5-7) earned the win after pitching six innings and giving up one run on four hits to end a four-decision losing streak. It was Lohse's first victory since May 23.

Brandon Phillips drove in the lone run for the Reds.

Cincinnati starter Johnny Cueto lasted just two innings after suffering a tight left hip flexor while running out a grounder.

MLB: Houston 3, St. Louis 2

Houston, July 20: Carlos Lee hit a three-run homer Monday to power the Houston Astros to a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Brian Moehler (7-5) got the win after giving up two runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. The Astros have won seven of their last 10 games.

Losing pitcher Kyle Lohse (4-6) gave up three runs on five hits in seven innings. Yadier Molina drove in both Cardinals runs.

MLB: St. Louis 5, Kansas City 0

St. Louis-- Kyle Lohse yielded four hits in eight scoreless innings Saturday to guide the St. Louis Cardinals to a second straight 5-0 win over the Kansas City Royals.

It gave the Cardinals five wins in a row.

Lohse (4-3) did not walk a batter and fanned six in 98 pitches.

He never allowed more than one base runner in any inning.
Lohse had lost his three previous starts.
Nick Stavinoha hit a two-run first-inning double.
One of two hits for Skip Schumaker was a second-inning solo homer.
Both Colby Rasmus and Tyler Greene had one RBI, while Yadier Molina added two hits for the Cardinals, whose pitchers have yielded just two runs during the winning streak.
