NBA: Los Angeles Lakers 99, New Jersey 92

Newark, N.J. -- Kobe Bryant pumped in 32 points and Lamar Odom added 22 Sunday in the Los Angeles Lakers' 99-92 victory over New Jersey.

Bryant distributed six assists, Odam pulled down seven rebounds and Pau Gasol chipped in with 15 points and 11 boards for the Lakers, who won for the second time in three games on their current road trip.

Derek Fisher contributed 10 points for the victors.

New Jersey, which dropped its seventh straight, got 25 points and nine rebounds from Brook Lopez while Kris Humphries added 11 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

NBA: LA Lakers 115, Washington 108

Los Angeles -- Kobe Bryant scored a game-high 32 points, Lamar Odom scored 24 and Pau Gasol scored 21 Tuesday to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 115-108 win over Washington.

Bryant was 12-of-23 from the field and had five rebounds in the Lakers' second consecutive win. Gasol had 14 rebounds and Odom grabbed seven boards, helping the Lakers outrebound the Wizards 45-34.

Nick Young led the Washington attack with 30 points, including six 3-pointers. Gilbert Arenas scored 23 and John Wall 22.

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers 113, Sacramento 80

Los Angeles -- Kobe Bryant scored 22 points in 27 minutes Friday, sending the Los Angeles Lakers coasting past Sacramento 113-80.

The Lakers ended a four-game losing streak, their longest in four seasons and only the 11th such skid in the 20-year coaching career of Phil Jackson.

Los Angeles led by five points after one period, 17 points after two and 30 points heading into the fourth quarter. The Lakers shot 57 percent from the field and forced 19 turnovers.

Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol both had 16 points for the Lakers, who will play two games at home before leaving on a seven-game road trip that will last until the week of Christmas. Three of their four straight losses came on the road.

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers 103, Detroit 90

Auburn Hills, Mich. -- Kobe Bryant stayed hot with a 33-point performance Wednesday and the Los Angeles Lakers pulled away in the second half for a 103-90 win over Detroit.

Los Angeles led by as many as 27 points in the fourth quarter and easily survived a late flurry by the Pistons.

Bryant reached the 30-point mark for the fourth time in five games, making 11 of 20 shots from the field and all eight of his free throws. Pau Gasol added 25 points and 12 rebounds and Lamar Odom had 15 points and 14 boards.

Los Angeles held a 55-41 advantage in rebounds and limited the Pistons to 39 percent shooting from the field.

Rodney Stuckey had 18 points for the Pistons, who have dropped two straight. The Lakers have won in each of their last three trips to Detroit.

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers 118, Milwaukee 107

Milwaukee -- Kobe Bryant scored 31 points and the Los Angeles Lakers ended their two-game losing streak Tuesday with a 118-107 road win over Milwaukee.

Shannon Brown came off the bench to score 21 for the Lakers, who improved to 9-2 for the season.

Brown was 7-of-9 from the field, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range. Paul Gasol scored 18 and Lamar Odom tallied 13.

Brandon Jennings' 31 points led the Bucks, who had won their last three games. Drew Gooden added 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Los Angeles rallied from a 64-57 early in the second half with a 13-4 run that put them ahead 70-68. Milwaukee briefly regained the lead before a 10-point Lakers run put the visitors in the driver's seat.

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers 124, Memphis 105

Los Angeles -- Kobe Bryant scored 23 points and Pau Gasol added 21 Tuesday in the Los Angeles Lakers' 124-105 victory over Memphis.

Gasol pulled down 13 rebounds and Lamar Odom contributed 17 points, eight boards and six assists for the Lakers, who led wire-to-wire for the second straight game and raised their record to 4-0 to start the season.

Matt Barnes came off the bench to pump in 16 points and grab 14 rebounds -- nine of them off the offensive glass -- and Shannon Brown hit all three of his 3-point tries en route to 13 points.

The Grizzlies shot 41.3 percent from the field in the loss, which evened their record at 2-2.

Lakers to limit Bryant's playing time

Los Angeles -- Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant will see limited playing time to start the NBA season, Coach Phil Jackson said Wednesday.

In a sign Bryant hasn't fully recovered from off-season knee surgery, Jackson said his playing time will be strictly monitored in the new season's early going, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"I don't anticipate he's going to be playing heavy-minutes games to start the season," Jackson told reporters. "We'll have to find a pattern out there so he has the greatest influence in the amount of minutes he can" play.

Kobe Bryant has knee surgery

Los Angeles -- The Los Angeles Lakers announced Friday that Kobe Bryant had undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.

A statement released by the team said the procedure was performed last week and Bryant is expected to have a full recovery prior to the start of training camp Sept. 25.

Bryant was named MVP of the NBA Finals for the second straight year after the Lakers captured the league crown. He averaged 27 points per contest in 73 games last season.

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers 89, Boston 67

Los Angeles -- Kobe Bryant had 26 points and 11 rebounds Tuesday and the Los Angeles Lakers sent the NBA Finals to a decisive seventh game by drubbing Boston 89-67.

Pau Gasol added 17 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists for the Lakers.

The series will be decided Thursday at Staples Center, with the Lakers in line to become the first repeat champions in the NBA since they won three in row in 2000, 2001 and 2002.

Ray Allen scored 19 points to lead the Celtics, who shot just 33.3 percent from the field -- and 5-of-23 from 3-point range. The Lakers shot 41.8 percent and were 17-of-19 from the free-throw line.

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers 102, Boston 89

Los Angeles -- Kobe Bryant quickly exerted his influence Thursday and the Los Angeles Lakers opened the NBA Finals with a physical, 102-89 victory over Boston.

The Lakers relied on their superstar for offense and on Pau Gasol for a domination of the backboards in producing a convincing victory in Game 1 of the NBA's championship series.

Bryant scored 30 points, the last of them coming on a 3-pointer in the final seconds that simply added to a frustrating night for the Celtics. Gasol added 23 points and claimed 14 rebounds, creating a physical presence on the boards that resulted in a 42-30 Los Angeles advantage.

Lakers sign Kobe Bryant through 2014

Los Angeles -- The Los Angeles Lakers have signed superstar Kobe Bryant to a three-year contract extension, the team announced Friday.

Bryant -- a 12-time NBA All-Star who has played on four NBA championship teams in 14 seasons with the Lakers -- had been signed through the 2010-11 season with an opt-out clause following the current season. Financial details of the extension announced Friday were not disclosed.

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers 106, Sacramento 99

Sacramento -- Kobe Bryant scored 30 points and Pau Gasol had 28 Tuesday to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 106-99 win at Sacramento.

Bryant had nine rebounds and seven assists to go with Gasol's 12 boards in the Lakers' 50th victory of the season.

Andrew Bynum also collected a dozen rebounds for the Lakers, who had 23 second-chance points to Sacramento's nine.

Sacramento's Tyreke Evans had 25 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. Carl Landry scored 15 points.

Los Angeles held a narrow 49-48 lead at halftime but padded its advantage to 10 points in the third quarter. Lamar Odom hit a shot at the buzzer to make it 77-68 at the end of the period.
