Daytona Beach -- Kevin Harvick navigated his way through an outbreak of accidents and wrecks early Sunday to win the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

The points leader for NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series emerged victorious after 47 lead changes involving a record 18 drivers while the track was littered with multi-car crashes producing nine cautions.

The most spectacular crash was triggered by Sam Hornish Jr. with 13 laps remaining and necessitated a two-lap overtime finish.

The Saturday night start of the race was delayed for 90 minutes due to rain and it finally finished in the early morning hours Sunday.

Harvick edges McMurray at Talladega

Talladega, Ala. -- Kevin Harvick barely got by Jamie McMurray to win the Aaron's 499 Sunday at Talladega, Ala., Superspeedway, his first Sprint Cup win in 115 races.

Havrick nosed out McMurray at the finish line following a third try for a green-white-checkered finish, besting him by a mere 0.011 seconds in a thrilling race that saw a NASCAR record-setting 88 lead changes among 29 drivers.

The former record of 75 lead changes was also set at Talladega in 1984's race.

Harvick won a Sprint Cup crown for the first since the 2007 Daytona 500.

Harvick gamble pays off at Nashville 300

Harvick took just two tires in the pit stop while Sorenson went for four. Harvick left the pits first but Sorenson was closing the gap before Harvick crossed the line 0.2 seconds ahead of Sorenson to post his second Nationwide win of the season and the 36th of his career.

"(Crew chief) Ernie (Cope) made the right pit call there, and everybody did a great job on pit road today," Harvick said.

Harvick again wins the Budweiser Shootout

Daytona Beach, Fla. -- Kevin Harvick overcame the flu and defended his title Saturday at the Sprint Cup Budweiser Shootout at Daytona Beach, Fla.

He won the event at the Daytona International Speedway after Michael Waltrip's late crash led to a wild finish at the green-white-checkered flag.

Greg Biffle and Kasey Kahne were the only drivers who did not stop on pit road during a late caution.

Harvick, who arrived late Friday after driving from his North Carolina home, where he battled flu-like symptoms, became the fourth driver to win the Sprint Cup's lone non-points event in consecutive years.

The others are Neil Bonnett (1983-84), Ken Schrader (1989-90) and Tony Stewart (2001-02).

Harvick down with flu-like symptoms

Welcome, N.C. -- Veteran Sprint Cup driver Kevin Harvick is battling flu-like symptoms at his home in North Carolina, Richard Childress Racing said in a release late Thursday.

The illness could keep the 2007 Daytona 500 winner from competing in Saturday's Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway.

Saturday's race includes the 12 drivers who competed in the 2009 Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, including four-time points champion Jimmie Johnson.

The statement said Harvick hopes to arrive in Daytona Beach before Saturday's race.

He has received medical attention, which was disclosed, and because he won the Shootout in 2007, Harvick is an automatic entrant for the 2010 "500", based upon new NASCAR guidelines.

Kurt Busch wins Dickies 500 in Texas

Fort Worth, Texas, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Kurt Busch drove to his second Sprint Cup victory of the season Sunday, winning the Dickies 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway.

Busch conserved enough fuel to finish ahead of the field after taking the lead from his younger brother, Kyle, who ran out of gas with less than three laps to go.

Denny Hamlin ended up in second place, Matt Kenseth finished third, Mark Martin fourth and Kevin Harvick fifth.

"I saw (Kyle) peel off a couple of laps before us, and I wanted to get to him, but I didn't want to get there too fast because you got to save a little bit of fuel, but yet I knew what we had for fuel mileage," said Kurt Busch, who also won a race in Atlanta in March.

Havrick wins 300-mile Nationwide race

Hampton -- Kevin Harvick passed Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the lead with two laps left Saturday and held on to win the Degree V12 300 Nationwide Series race.

Harvick and Kyle Busch made their final stops for gas and tires with less than 15 laps remaining. Earnhardt and Carl Edwards decided to go the distance without pitting for fuel. Busch also passed Earnhardt in the final laps before finishing a little more than a second behind Harvick.

"Kyle was a little bit better on the short runs, but after eight or10 laps, this thing was just flat-out awesome," said Harvick, who led 131 of 195 laps.

"We cut it a little bit closer than I would have liked to at the end."

Sprint drivers gear up for Showdown

Concord, N.C. -- Drivers of all ages are fired up about Saturday's Sprint Cup Showdown at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C.

NASCAR's annual all-star event ran in four 25-lap segments in 2008, but this season, in celebration of its silver anniversary, the race's format will be divided into four different segments.

For the first time since 2001, the All-Star race will feature a 10-lap shootout for its final segment.

"To be a part of the All-Star race and that group of drivers is always cool, and to do it at Charlotte is a lot of fun," Matt Kenseth said.
