Justin Upton

MLB: Arizona 3, New York Mets 2

New York, July 31: Justin Upton dashed home from third on a wild pitch by Sean Green with two out in the eighth inning Friday, giving Arizona a 3-2 win over the New York Mets.

Four of the five runs in the game came on solo homers, but the deciding run scored off a mistake by a pitcher who had thrown only 11 wild pitches in his four-year career.

Green (1-3) came on to relieve Pedro Feliciano in the eighth after Feliciano had given up a leadoff single to Gerardo Parra. Green hit Justin Upton with a pitch and walked Mark Reynolds to load the bases.

Miguel Montero grounded into a double play that included a force of Parra at home.

MLB: Arizona 11, Pittsburgh 4

Phoenix, July 24: Gerardo Parra, Chad Tracy and Justin Upton homered to account for seven runs Thursday and push then Arizona Diamondbacks to an 11-4 win over Pittsburgh.

The Pirates scored four times in the fifth inning to take a 4-1 lead, and then fell victim to the long ball.

Parra's two-run homer in the fifth forged a 4-4 tie, Tracy finished off a five-run seventh with a three-run blast and Upton hit a two-run shot in the eighth.

Arizona starter Dan Haren missed out on a chance to win his 11th game when he gave up the four runs in the fifth.

Juan Gutierrez (3-2) picked up the victory by working a perfect seventh inning.

After Haren allowed nine base runners, Pittsburgh could not manage a hit against any of Arizona's four relievers.

MLB: Arizona 8, Texas 2

Phoenix, June 24: Justin Upton and Felipe Lopez both drove in three runs in Arizona's 8-2 romp over the Texas Rangers Tuesday.

The first three batters in the Diamondbacks' lineup accounted for eight of the team's 11 hits and scored five runs.

Max Scherzer (5-4) won his third consecutive start by yielding two runs on seven hits and striking out seven in six innings.

Matt Harrison (4-5) took the loss after being roughed up for seven runs on seven hits in a 2 2/3-inning start. The loss equaled a season-high five-game losing streak for the Rangers.

Upton started things with a two-run homer in the first inning. The Diamondbacks added two more in the second on Lopez's bases-loaded single.
