MLB: St. Louis 11, Florida 6

St. Louis, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Julio Lugo tripled in two runs and scored another Monday when St. Louis took a 7-6 lead in the fourth inning and went on to beat the Florida Marlins 11-6.

Colby Rasmus had three hits, including a three-run homer in the eighth inning, and Matt Holliday drove in three runs for St. Louis. Ryan Ludwick added a two-run single and Skip Schumaker finished with three hits and three runs scored in the victory.

Todd Wellemeyer started for the Cardinals and allowed nine hits and six runs over four innings. Blake Hawksworth (4-0) yielded one hit in 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the victory.

MLB: St. Louis 12, N.Y. Mets 7

New York, Aug. 4: Albert Pujols hit a grand slam homer in the 10th inning Tuesday to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 12-7 victory over the New York Mets.

Pujols wound up 4-for-5 with two home runs and St. Louis scored eight runs over the final three innings.

The Mets held a 7-4 lead heading into the top of the eighth, but Pujols' first homer cut into the Cardinals' deficit. St. Louis rallied to tie the game in the ninth against Francisco Rodriguez, who suffered his fourth blown save of the season.

Kyle McClellan (3-2) pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth but St. Louis went ahead in the 10th with a one-out rally.

MLB: St. Louis 3, LA Dodgers 2

St. Louis, July 30: Albert Pujols singled home Julio Lugo from second with two out in the 15th inning Wednesday, giving St. Louis a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Pujols finally ended a five-hour game that saw the Cardinals win their third straight and stay in a virtual tie with the Chicago Cubs atop the National League Central. The Dodgers have lost four in a row.

St. Louis scored in the ninth to tie it at 1-1 and both sides produced a run in the 11th.

Los Angeles missed a chance to take the lead in the 12th when Manny Ramirez was thrown out at home trying to score from second on a two-out single by Casey Blake.

MLB: Boston 6, Baltimore 5

Baltimore, July 1: Julio Lugo's 11th-inning RBI single boosted the Boston Red Sox to a 6-5 win Wednesday over the Baltimore Orioles.

Boston overcame a 5-1 deficit with a four-run ninth inning, led by a two-run homer by Kevin Youkilis and Rocco Baldelli's score-tying two-run single.

Dustin Pedroia also had one RBI for the Red Sox, who have won four of their last six games.

Wednesday's winner was Ramon Ramirez (5-2). Closer Jonathan Papelbon earned his 20th save with a 1-2-3 ninth, one game after he blew a save in Baltimore's 11-10 win Tuesday when the Orioles rallied back from a 10-1 deficit.
