Juan Miranda

MLB: N.Y. Yankees 4, Boston 3 (10 innings)

New York -- Juan Miranda drew a bases-loaded walk from Hideki Okajima in the 10th inning Sunday, handing the New York Yankees a 4-3 win over Boston.

The Yankees' victory ensured them at least a tie for an American League wild-card playoff spot and all but eliminated the Red Sox from post-season contention.

Robinson Cano forced an extra frame with a score-tying, RBI single in the ninth inning. In the next frame, Okajima (4-4) loaded the bases and then forced in Brett Gardner with a game-ending walk to Miranda.

Alex Rodriguez helped the Yanks snap a four-game losing streak with a two-run homer.

New York cut Tampa Bay's lead in the AL East to a half-game with the victory.

MLB: New York Yankees 4, Kansas City 3

New York, Sept. 29: Juan Miranda singled off the glove of Kyle Farnsworth in the ninth Tuesday to drive in the winning run in the New York Yankees' 4-3 win over Kansas City.

Farnsworth (1-5), a former Yankee, gave up a one-out infield hit to Francisco Cervelli that also deflected off the pitcher, and Eric Hinske's pinch-hit single through the right side left runners on first and third. Robinson Cano's deep fly to center scored the tying run and after a walk, Hinske scored on Miranda's hit.

It was the 28th time the Yankees won this season in their last at-bat.

Mark Teixeira hit his 39th homer to tie the game in the sixth and Nick Swisher hit his 28th of the season an inning later.
