Chris Johnson named top AFC player

New York -- Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson is the AFC Offensive Player of the Week after a franchise-record 228 yards against Jacksonville last Sunday.

The former East Carolina star carried 24 times with 52- and 89-yards touchdown runs in the Titans' 30-13 win, their first this season.

Teammate Maurice Jones-Drew had touchdown runs of 80 and 79 yards, making it the first time in NFL history that there were four rushing touchdowns of at least 50 yards in a single contest.

Johnson was joined in the AFC by Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing (defense) and Miami Dolphins kick returner Ted Ginn, Jr. (special teams).

Senior golfers leads on regular tour

Las Vegas, Oct. 15: Tom Pernice, Jr., who last month won in his Champions Tour debut, returned to the regular circuit Thursday and promptly grabbed a share of the lead.

Pernice shot a 9-under 62 that tied him with Troy Matteson and Spencer Levin for first place after the opening round of the Shriners Hospital for Children Open.

The event is being played at the TPC-Summerlin course, with Justin Timberlake as host.

Pernice turned 50 on Sept. 5 and three weeks later won the SAS Championship on the Champions Tour. He became the third player this year to win in his debut on the senior circuit, joining Tom Lehman and Michael Allen.

James Thomas wins 'Survivor'

Los Angeles -- James "J.T." Thomas, Jr. has been declared the winner of "Survivor: Tocantins."

Thomas won the reality competition show's $1 million prize in a 2-hour season finale that aired Sunday night.

CBS said Monday the show placed first in viewers and key demographics for its time period.

About 12.74 million people are estimated to have tuned in for the finale, the network said.
