MLB: Arizona 4, Pittsburgh 3

Pittsburgh, Aug. 5: Stephen Drew put Arizona in front with a two-run single in the eighth Wednesday, helping the Diamondbacks rally to a 4-3 win over Pittsburgh.

The Pirates took a 3-1 lead into the eighth but Arizona jumped in front thanks in large part to a throwing error by Pittsburgh reliever Joel Hanrahan.

Hanrahan (1-4) came on with the bases empty and one out in the eighth and immediately walked Ryan Roberts, who had hit a solo homer in the sixth. Chad Tracy then bounced one back to Hanrahan, whose wild throw put runners on first and second.

MLB: Arizona 4, St. Louis 2

St. Louis, July 18: Dan Haren went eight innings and drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk Saturday to help the Arizona Diamondbacks beat St. Louis 4-2.

Haren (10-5), a former Cardinal, limited St. Louis to one run on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts to get his fourth straight victory. He retired 15 batters in a row at one point before issuing a one-out walk in the eighth inning, and improved his major league-leading ERA to 1.96.

Chad Qualls allowed a two-out, run-scoring single to pinch-hitter Joe Thurston in the ninth but then got pinch-hitter Rick Ankiel to fly out to center to end the game and post his 17th save.

MLB: Houston 6, Arizona 4

Phoenix, June 13: Roy Oswalt gave up a run and five hits Saturday to lead the Houston Astros to a 6-4 victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Houston's Lance Berkman hit a two-run sixth-inning homer, Matt Kata had two hits and one RBI, and Michael Bourn had a run and two hits for the Astros, who have split their last four games.

Closer LaTroy Hawkins, the last of six Houston pitchers, earned his ninth save.

Mark Reynolds hit a two-run eighth-inning double. Chris Young hit a fourth-inning solo homer, Josh Whitesell had one RBI, Stephen Drew had three hits and Felipe Lopez two for the Diamondbacks, who have lost four of six.

Losing pitcher Jon Garland (4-7) surrendered three runs and six hits in seven innings.
