John Rollins leads on PGA Tour

Sea Island, Ga. -- John Rollins ran off four straight birdies on the back nine Thursday and his 7-under 63 gave him a one-shot lead after one round of the McGladrey Classic.

Rollins began his birdie run at the 14th hole of the Sea Island Resort Seaside Course, allowing him to edge David Toms and Troy Merritt for the top spot. Toms shared the lead with Rollins until missing a 6-foot par putt at his final hole, leaving him tied with Merritt at 64.

Joe Durant, Michael Letzig and Rich Barcelo shared fourth place at 65.

This is the second tournament of the PGA Tour's Fall Series, during which players low on the money list will be trying to secure a top finish to ensure their spot on next year's circuit.

Rollins holds on to win Reno PGA event

Reno, Nev. Aug. 9: John Rollins shot three bogeys and a double-bogey Sunday but was still able to win the $540,000 Reno-Tahoe Open by three strokes.

Rollins mixed his over-par holes with three birdies and an eagle and came away with an even-par round of 72, and a somewhat more-impressive 17-under 271 for the tournament.

"It was kind of an up and down day," Rollins said after notching his third career PGA win.

Jeff Quinney and Martin Laird tied for second.

Rollins led by four strokes heading into Sunday's final round and promptly birdied the second hole at Montreux Golf and Country Club. A missed chip shot and two-putt on the par-5 fourth hole knocked him back to 16-under.

Rollins shoots 62 for Reno lead

Reno, Nev. Aug. 7: John Rollins took advantage of ideal scoring conditions Friday to post a 10-under 62 that gave him the lead after 36 holes of the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open.

Blustery winds made the Montreux Golf and Country Club course a challenge Thursday, and nobody did better than 67. It was the highest first-round leading score in the history of the event.

Conditions improved Friday, and Rollins took full advantage by recording eight birdies and an eagle. He stood at 12-under 132 after two rounds, two shots in front of former PGA Championship winner Shaun Micheel.

Rollins has third-round lead in Buick

La Jolla, Calif. -- John Rollins shot a 2-under 70 Saturday, taking a three-stroke lead after the third round of the PGA Buick Invitational.

Rollins, who had a 64 Friday, finished 54 holes at the South Course at Torrey Pines at 12-under 204. First- and second-round leader Camilo Villegas slipped to second after posting a 2-over 74 Saturday.

Nick Watney (71) is alone in third place at 209. Luke Donald (71) and Paul Goydos (72) are tied for fourth at 210.

After play rotated over both the North and South Courses in the first two rounds, all golfers played on the more-difficult South Course for the weekend.

Intermittent rain showers hit the course, but play was never halted Saturday.
