NHL: San Jose 6, Edmonton 1

Edmonton, Alberta -- Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski scored second-period goals Saturday, keying the San Jose Sharks' 6-1 rout of Edmonton.

After they had spotted the Oilers a 1-0 lead in the first frame, the Sharks reeled off six unanswered goals to win going away.

Dany Heatley's power play goal tied it with less than 4 minutes remaining in the first, and Couture and Pavelski (two assists) extended San Jose's lead in the middle stanza.

Ryan Clowe, Dan Boyle and John McCarthy each found the net in the third period to complete the rout and Antero Niittymaki stopped 21-of-22 shots in San Jose's win.

Jordan Eberle got a shorthanded tally for the Oilers' only score.

NHL: San Jose 4, Colorado 2

Denver -- Joe Pavelski broke up a deadlocked game with two second-period, power-play goals Thursday, sending San Jose past Colorado 4-2.

It was the first meeting of the Sharks and Avalanche since San Jose knocked Colorado out of the last season's playoffs in the opening round.

Pavelski scored 1:08 into the second to give the Sharks a 2-1 lead and added a power-play tally at the 8:44 mark. They were the first two goals of the season for Pavelski, who had 25 of them in each of the last two seasons.

Milan Hejduk brought Colorado within one 7:25 into the third, but Logan Couture scored into an empty net with 1:12 to play to clinch it.

The Sharks halted a three-game losing streak.

NHL: San Jose 8, Nashville 5

San Jose, Calif. -- Joe Pavelski scored two of San Jose's six third-period goals Thursday, rallying the Sharks to a wild 8-5 victory over Nashville.

San Jose trailed 4-2 heading into the final period, but Pavelski gave the Sharks a 5-4 lead with a wrist shot 11:16 into the stanza.

J.P. Dumont briefly got the game tied, but Pavelski scored again with 5:20 remaining to give the Sharks the lead for good. Patrick Marleau boosted the advantage to two with his 40th goal of the season and Jay Leach scored into an empty net with 26 seconds left.

San Jose moved two points in front of idle Chicago for the best record in the Western Conference.

NHL: San Jose 3, Phoenix 2 (SO)

San Jose, Calif. -- Joe Pavelski scored a goal in regulation and then fired in the winner in a shootout Monday to lead the San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 win over Phoenix.

Evgeni Nabokov had 31 saves and Devin Setoguchi scored a goal for the Sharks, who won their fifth straight game while stopping a three-game Phoenix winning streak.

Shane Doan and Petr Prucha scored goals and Ilya Bryzgalov was 36-for-38 in regulation for the Coyotes.

The Sharks led 2-0 on Setoguchi's 10th goal of the season at 2:54 of the first period and Pavelski's short-handed goal at 5:17 of the second. Phoenix came back with two second-period goals -- Prucha's seventh goal of the season at 9:20 and a goal by Doan at 18:22 of the second.

NHL: San Jose 5, Pittsburgh 0

San Jose, Calif. -- San Jose goaltender Evgeni Nabokov stopped all 27 shots Saturday as the Sharks shut out the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-0.

Nabokov earned his second shutout of the year while sparking the Sharks to their seventh win in eight games in a lop-sided affair in which Joe Pavelski, Dan Boyle and Manny Malhotra each notched a goal and an assist.

The Sharks' other goals came from Dany Heatley and Jamie McGinn.

San Jose's stifling defense kept Penguins star Sidney Crosby from scoring in the fourth straight game Crosby has gone without a point.
