Cleveland, Aug. 19: Jered Weaver bounced back from his worst outing of the season to throw a seven-hit shutout Wednesday, giving the Los Angeles Angels a 3-0 win over Cleveland.
It was the second shutout and fourth complete game of Weaver's four-year career.
The Angels, who began action Wednesday with a 5 ½-game lead over Texas in the American League West, won their fifth straight.
Weaver (13-4) survived only 3 1/3 innings in his previous start against Baltimore Friday, giving up eight earned runs, nine hits and four walks. It was his shortest outing in more than a year.
Although he allowed the Indians seven hits, Cleveland did not have more than one runner on base in any inning.
