MLB: Los Angeles Angels 12, Chicago Cubs 0

Chicago -- Jered Weaver pitched seven scoreless innings and Bobby Abreu went 4-for-5 with an RBI Saturday in the Los Angeles Angels' 12-0 blowout of the Chicago Cubs.

Weaver (7-3) was extra tough, yielding only two hits, walking none striking out 11 en route to winning a second consecutive start for the first time this season.

Scott Shields finished the Angels' shutout with two more scoreless frames.

Howie Kendrick homered to lead off the game, keying a four-run opening-inning rally for Los Angeles highlighted by a bases-clearing, three-run double by Juan Rivera.

Torii Hunter added a two-run shot to lift the Angels to their second straight inter-league win over Chicago.

MLB: LA Angels 4, Boston 1

Anaheim, Calif., Oct. 10: An RBI single by Maicer Izturis in the seventh put Los Angeles in front Friday and the Angels took control of their playoff series with a 4-1 win over Boston.

The Angels got to John Beckett for three runs in the seventh to break a 1-1 tie and grab a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-five American League Division Series.

Los Angeles will try to win the series Sunday when the action moves to Boston.

Beckett brought a 7-2 career post-season record into the game and limited the Angels to a run on four hits through six innings in a duel with Los Angeles starter Jered Weaver.

Vladimir Guerrero drew a walk off Becket to start the big Los Angeles seventh and Howie Kendrick came on to run for Guerrero.

MLB: LA Angels 5, Oakland 2

Oakland, Oct. 3 -- Jered Weaver allowed three hits in a five-inning stint while warming up for the playoffs Friday and the Los Angeles Angels held on to defeat Oakland 5-2.

The Angels took a shutout into the ninth before Kurt Suzuki and Daric Barton singled in runs. Oakland brought the tying run to the plate before Brian Fuentes retired the last two batters for his 47th save.

Weaver (16-8), making his last appearance before the Angels take on the New York Yankees in the opening round of the playoffs next week, struck out five and did not walk a batter.

The Angels managed only five runs off their 13 hits. Mike Napoli doubled home the first Los Angeles run in the second and Kendry Morales stole home later in the inning.

MLB: Oakland 3, LA Angels 0

Anahiem, Calif., Sept. 26: Gio Gonzalez and two relievers teamed to throw a five-hit shutout Friday that gave Oakland a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Despite losing their third in a row, the Angels still lead Texas by six games with nine to play in the race for the American League West title.

Gonzalez (6-6) allowed four hits over 6 1/3 innings in what was one of five shutouts in the majors Friday.

Michael Wuertz worked 1 2/3 innings and Andrew Bailey struck out one in a perfect ninth to earn his 26th save.

Adam Kennedy singled in the game's first run in the fifth, Daric Barton had an RBI single in the sixth and Oakland scored again in the seventh on a throwing error by catcher Jeff Mathis.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels 6, Seattle 3

Anaheim, Calif. Sept. 10: A three-run double by Kendry Morales highlighted a four-run first Wednesday and started the Los Angeles Angels on their way to a 6-3 victory over Seattle.

Jered Weaver struck out eight in winning for the third time in his last four decisions.

Los Angeles captured its second straight and stayed 4 1/2 games in front of Texas for the lead in the American League West. Those two teams will meet seven times in a 13-day stretch beginning Sept. 18.

Weaver (15-5) allowed two runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings. He left the game with a 4-2 lead and Juan Rivera added some insurance with a two-run homer in the eighth.

MLB: LA Angels 2, Kansas City 1

Kansas City, Mo. Sept. 5: Vladimir Guerrero delivered a two-run single with one out in the eighth inning Friday, rallying the Los Angeles Angels to a 2-1 win over Kansas City.

Kansas City held the Angels to two hits through seven innings, but wildness on the part of the relief corps led to the Los Angeles comeback.

Jamey Wright and Roman Colon combined to walk the bases loaded in the eighth before Guerrero singled to left. Kansas City pitchers walked eight batters overall.

Brian Fuentes gave up a lead-off single in the bottom of the ninth, then got Yuniesky Betancourt to ground into a double play en route to his 38 save.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels 3, Cleveland 0

Cleveland, Aug. 19: Jered Weaver bounced back from his worst outing of the season to throw a seven-hit shutout Wednesday, giving the Los Angeles Angels a 3-0 win over Cleveland.

It was the second shutout and fourth complete game of Weaver's four-year career.
The Angels, who began action Wednesday with a 5 ½-game lead over Texas in the American League West, won their fifth straight.

Weaver (13-4) survived only 3 1/3 innings in his previous start against Baltimore Friday, giving up eight earned runs, nine hits and four walks. It was his shortest outing in more than a year.

Although he allowed the Indians seven hits, Cleveland did not have more than one runner on base in any inning.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels 11, Oakland 6

Oakland, Calif. July 18: Erick Aybar had four RBI Saturday to lead the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to an 11-6 victory over the Oakland Athletics.

Chone Figgins hit a solo home run and scored three times and Kendry Morales scored two runs for the Angels, who have won five of their last six games.

Jered Weaver started for the Angels but gave up five runs on eight hits with three walks over just 3 2/3 innings. Darren Oliver (4-0) got the win for after pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.

Matt Holliday had two hits, two RBI and a run scored and Adam Kennedy and Orlando Cabrera each had an RBI and a run scored for the Athletics. Jack Cust added a solo home run and two RBI.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels 9, Texas 4

Anaheim, Calif. July 7: Jeff Mathis had a three-run homer and Juan Rivera had three hits, two RBI and a run scored Monday to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 9-4 win over Texas.

Jered Weaver (9-3) went seven innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts and one walk to get the win for the Angels, who took over sole possession of first place in the AL West with their third straight win and their 10th victory in their last 13 games.

Torii Hunter had two hits, drove in two runs and scored twice, Kendry Morales and Vladimir Guerrero each had one RBI and one run scored for LA.

Rangers' starter Kevin Millwood (8-6) allowed a career-high nine runs before leaving after five innings.

Arlington, Texas July 1: Hank Blalock's second homer of the game Wednesday, a two-out, two-run shot in the ninth, lifted Texas to a wild 9-7 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

The bizarre contest saw the Angels overcome a six-run deficit, even though they made two key base running mistakes in the late innings.

What began as a pitcher's duel between Kevin Millwood of Texas and Jered Weaver of the Angels deteriorated when the Rangers scored five times in the sixth without the benefit of a home run.

Anaheim, Calif. -- Jered Weaver recorded his first career shutout Sunday by pitching the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to a 6-0 win over the San Diego Padres.

Weaver, who went the distance for the third time this season and won his fourth consecutive start, gave up five hits and struck out five as the Halos swept the weekend series.

Juan Rivera hit two solo home runs for the Angels and Torii Hunter had two RBI.

Chris Young (4-6) lasted 2 1/3 innings, giving up five runs on four hits and walking five. Adrian Gonzalez had three of the five San Diego hits.

St.Petersburg, June 9:Jered Weaver was the winning pitcher and LA had four players with RBIs Tuesday in the Angels' 4-3 victory over Tampa Bay.

Weaver (6-2) gave up five hits and two runs with four walks in six innings.

Brian Fuentes pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his 16th save this season.

Chone Figgins, Bobby Abreu, Vladimir Guerrero and Juan Rivera each had two hits and an RBI in the win, LA's fourth in the past six games.

James Shields (5-5) took the loss after allowing four runs on 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Ben Zobrist homered and had two RBI for the Rays, who have lost three in a row.
