Philadelphia, Oct. 22: Jayson Werth began and finished a power surge Wednesday that sent Philadelphia sailing into the World Series with a 10-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Philadelphia captured the National League Championship Series in five games and earned a week off before the World Series begins Oct. 28.

Jayson Werth added a two-run homer, as the Phillies won for only the third time in eight games.
J.A. Happ (12-4) went 5 2/3 innings and yielded four runs on nine hits and one walk to become the team's first rookie since 1959 to win that many games.

Philadelphia, Aug. 18: Jamie Moyer pitched six shutout relief innings Tuesday to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Martinez started and allowed one run on two hits over three innings, but was lifted after a 66-minute rain delay.
Carlos Ruiz and Jayson Werth both homered and drove in two runs for the Phillies, who maintained their 4 1/2 game lead atop the NL East and won for the sixth time in their last seven games.

Philadelphia, Aug. 5: J.A. Happ threw his second shutout of the season Wednesday and was supported by three home runs in carrying Philadelphia to a 7-0 decision over Colorado.
The victory allowed Happ (8-2) to tie for the lead in victories among major league rookies. He struck out a career-high 10 and gave up four hits.
With Pedro Martinez making his final tune-up start in the minor leagues Wednesday, Happ's place in the Philadelphia rotation is in question and he made a major statement in his bid to keep his current job.
Happ, who threw a five-hit shutout June 27 at Toronto, also had his first career extra base hit when he delivered an eighth-inning double.
