Washington -- Washington Nationals free-agent signee pitcher Jason Marquis said Wednesday he will likely undergo elbow surgery.
Marquis, who signed a two-year, $15 million contract with the Nationals in the offseason, said he still felt pain in his elbow after making a rehabilitation start Tuesday.
He was placed on the 15-day disabled list late last month after struggling through only three starts of the season for the Nationals, going 0-3 with a 20.52 ERA, failing to last past the fifth inning in any of the outings.
Marquis, 31, came to the Nats after pitching for Colorado last season, where he compiled a 15-13 record with a 4.04 ERA.
