Detroit, Sept. 15: Alberto Callaspo, Miguel Olivo and David DeJesus each hit a three-run homer Tuesday to power Kansas City in an 11-1 rout of Detroit.
Callaspo also added a sacrifice fly, as the Royals won for the seventh time in eight games. Robinson Tejeda (3-1) made his third start of the season and allowed just one run on two hits and four walks in five innings.
Carlos Guillen had an RBI single.
The Tigers had only four hits in their sixth loss in eight games. The defeat narrows their division lead over Minnesota to five games.
Jarrod Washburn (9-9) lasted only one inning, giving up four runs, three hits and two walks.

Seattle, Aug. 27: David Aardsma escaped a ninth-inning jam Wednesday, enabling the Seattle Mariners to complete a series sweep with a 5-3 win over Oakland.
Seattle's three straight wins over the Athletics have come on the heels of a stretch in which the Mariners had lost seven games in 10 outings.
Jose Lopez put Seattle in front for good with a two-run homer in the first and Bill Hall drove in two runs with a single in the third and a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
That gave Luke French (4-3) enough of a cushion to win his second straight start.
French, obtained from Detroit at the trade deadline in the deal that sent Jarrod Washburn to the Tigers, allowed three runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Kansas City, Mo. Aug. 6: Russell Branyan highlighted a six-run fourth inning with a two-run double Wednesday and the Seattle Mariners went on to out-slug Kansas City 11-6.
The teams combined for 28 hits, 16 of them by the Mariners.
Ken Griffey Jr. began and ended the sixth inning by flying out but in between, the Mariners managed six runs on six hits to take an 8-2 lead.
Luke French (2-2) made his first appearance for Seattle after being obtained from Detroit in the trade that sent Jarrod Washburn to the Tigers. French lasted five innings and got the win despite giving up four runs on nine hits.

Detroit, Aug. 4: Nick Markakis and Cesar Izturis each had three hits and three RBI Tuesday to lead the Baltimore Orioles to an 8-2 win over the Detroit Tigers.
Brian Matusz (1-0), the fourth overall selection in the 2008 draft, was recalled from Double-A Bowie to make his first start. The left-hander gave up one run on six hits and three walks in five innings.
Markakis and Izturis each homered and Melvin Mora and Matt Wieters each had an RBI for Baltimore.
Jarrod Washburn (8-7) made his debut for Detroit after the club acquired the veteran from Seattle last week. But Washburn, named the American League pitcher of the month for July Tuesday, allowed six runs in 5 1/3 innings.
Magglio Ordonez went 2-for-5 with an RBI for the Tigers.

Detroit -- Jarrod Washburn gave up two hits in seven scoreless innings Thursday, leading the Seattle Mariners to a 2-1 win over the Detroit Tigers.
Washburn (8-6) threw 93 pitches with two walks and three strikeouts before Mark Lowe and Sean White finished the eighth and closer David Aardsma earned his 24th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Seattle's runs scored on Mike Sweeney's first-inning double and Wladimir Balentien's sixth-inning groundout.
Sweeney and Ichiro Suzuki had two hits apiece for the Mainers, who won twice in
the three-game series and have won six of their last seven.
Detroit's run scored on Curtis Granderson's eighth-inning triple.

Cleveland, July 18: Franklin Gutierrez hit his second homer in as many games Saturday to lead the Seattle Mariners to a 3-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians.
Gutierrez's two-run blow enabled the Mariners to win for the fifth time in their last seven games. Russell Branyan added a sacrifice fly for Seattle's other run.
Jarrod Washburn (7-6) earned his first road win since his first start of the season by allowing one run on eight hits 6 2/3 innings. The left-hander has given up just two runs in his last three starts, covering 22 2/3 innings.
David Aardsma earned his 21st save of the season.
Jamey Carroll had two hits and an RBI and Asdrubal Cabrera, Victor Martinez and Travis Hafner each had two hits in the loss.

Seattle, July 12: Rob Johnson's two-run homer in the seventh inning Saturday put Seattle ahead and the Mariners went on to beat Texas 4-1.
Jack Hannahan -- who came to the Mariners Saturday in a trade with Oakland -- doubled and then scored on an RBI single by Ichiro Suzuki in the seventh. Russell Branyan also homered for the Mariners.
Jarrod Washburn (6-6) got the win, going seven innings and allowing one run on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
Kevin Millwood (8-7) took the loss, giving up four runs on six with two walks and five strikeouts in six-plus innings.

Seattle, July 7: Jarrod Washburn pitched his first career one-hit shutout Monday in the Seattle Mariners' 5-0 win over Baltimore.
Washburn (5-6) set down the first 11 batters he faced and went on to face just 28 batters -- one over the minimum. He struck out three.
Russell Branyan smacked a first-inning solo homer -- his 21st round-tripper of the season -- and Chris Woodward drove in two runs with a sixth-inning double for the Mariners, who won for the fourth time in their last five games. Franklin Gutierrez had three hits and scored once and Ichiro Suzuki and Ryan Langerhans each drove in a run.
Nick Markakis was the only Oriole to get a hit when he singled in the fourth.

New York, July 1: Alex Rodriguez put New York in front with a two-run, sixth-inning homer Wednesday and the Yankees went on to down Seattle 4-2.
New York won its seventh straight game.
Andy Pettitte (8-3) allowed two runs on six hits over seven innings to get the win. He walked only one and struck out five. Mariano Rivera worked a perfect ninth, recording his 20th save of the season and the 502nd of his career.
Seattle lost on New York's home field for the 10th consecutive time.
Johnny Damon gave New York the lead in the third with a home run and Melky Cabrera contributed a blast in the fifth to again put the Yankees in front.

Denver, June 13: Troy Tulowitzki scored three runs as part of a Colorado rally Friday and Ubaldo Jimenez threw a complete game, bringing the Rockies a 6-4 win over Seattle.
It was Colorado's ninth straight victory.
Jimenez (5-6) went the distance for only the second time in his four-year career, even though he allowed four runs on eight hits. His other complete-game effort came last year against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Seattle took an early 3-0 lead, but the Rockies staged a comeback with the help of two unearned runs.
Tulowitzki hit a solo homer in the fourth to bring Colorado within 4-3 and Jimenez helped his own cause with a single that drove in Tulowitzki in the sixth.
