MLB: Texas 4, Seattle 2

Arlington, Texas Aug. 2: Jarrod Saltalamacchia's two-run homer in the seventh inning Sunday snapped a tie and delivered the Texas Rangers a 4-2 win over Seattle.

The Rangers got solo homers from David Murphy in the first and Michael Young in the sixth.

Seattle scored two runs in the sixth -- one on a bases-loaded ground out by Russell Branyan and the second on a single by Jose Lopez.

Starter Scott Feldman (10-4) went seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts for the Rangers, who took three out of four from the Mariners in the weekend series and have won nine of 13 against Seattle this season.

C.J. Wilson allowed one hit in one inning of relief to get his 13th save.

MLB: Texas 6, Boston 3

Arlington, Texas July 20: Michael Young, David Murphy and Jarrod Saltalamacchia homered off John Smoltz in the sixth Monday to lead the Texas Rangers to a 6-3 win over Boston.

Hank Blalock drove in two runs for the Rangers.

Kevin Millwood (9-7) gave up six hits and two runs over six innings to win for the first time in his last four starts.

Kevin Youkilis had two hits and an RBI for the Red Sox, who lost their third in a row and fell into a tie with the New York Yankees for first place in the AL East.

Smoltz (1-3) was charged six runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. The veteran right-hander hadn't allowed a home run any of his first four starts since joining the Red Sox last month.

MLB: Texas 5, Minnesota 3

Arlington, Texas July 20: Ian Kinsler's two-run home run off R.A. Dickey with one out in the 12th Sunday gave the Texas Rangers a 5-3 win over Minnesota.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia led off the inning with a single off Brian Duensing (0-1) and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Elvis Andrus to set up Kinsler's 22nd homer of the season and his second of the game. Kinsler had leff off the bottom of the first with a solo shot.

Marlon Byrd had two hits and scored twice and Andrus drove in a run for Texas, which won for the first time in its last five games.

Rangers' starter Derek Holland went four innings, allowing three runs on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

MLB: Texas 8, LA Angels 1

Anaheim, Calif. July 9: Andruw Jones homered in each of his first three at bats Wednesday, powering Texas to an 8-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

Jones had two chances to become the 16th player in major league history to record four home runs in a game, but he just got under a fast ball down the middle and popped out in the sixth before striking out in the ninth.

He was trying to add his name to a list that includes Lou Gehrig, Gil Hodges and Willie Mays.

The Rangers defeated the Angels for the seventh time in nine meetings this year and moved a game ahead of Los Angeles into first place in the American League West. Texas is a season-best 11 games above .500.

MLB: Texas 8, Los Angeles Angels 5

Anaheim, Calif. July 8: A three-run homer by Andruw Jones keyed a six-run fifth inning for the Texas Rangers, who went on to knock off the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 8-5 Tuesday.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia drove in a pair of runs for the Rangers, who won for the sixth time in seven games and beat the division-rival Angels for the sixth time this season.

Derek Holland (3-5) pitched two innings for the win in relief of Dustin Nippert, who made his first start after beginning the season on the disabled list with a strained back.

John Lackey (3-4) took the loss after giving up six runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings. Juan Rivera hit two solo home runs for the Angels and Chone Figgins drove in a pair of runs.

MLB: Arizona 8, Texas 2

Phoenix, June 24: Justin Upton and Felipe Lopez both drove in three runs in Arizona's 8-2 romp over the Texas Rangers Tuesday.

The first three batters in the Diamondbacks' lineup accounted for eight of the team's 11 hits and scored five runs.

Max Scherzer (5-4) won his third consecutive start by yielding two runs on seven hits and striking out seven in six innings.

Matt Harrison (4-5) took the loss after being roughed up for seven runs on seven hits in a 2 2/3-inning start. The loss equaled a season-high five-game losing streak for the Rangers.

Upton started things with a two-run homer in the first inning. The Diamondbacks added two more in the second on Lopez's bases-loaded single.

MLB: San Francisco 2, Texas 1

San Francisco, June 21: Nate Schierholtz scored the winning run on a wild pitch Saturday, giving the San Francisco Giants a 2-1 11-inning inter-league win over the Texas Rangers.

The bases were loaded with two outs in the bottom of the 11th when losing pitcher Jason Jennings (2-3) threw the wild pitch past catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

Aaron Rowand's lone hit was a third-inning solo homer and Pablo Sandoval had two of the six hits for the Giants, who had snapped their three-game losing streak Friday with a 6-4 win.

The winner was Sergio Romo (2-0).

Starter Matt Cain gave up a run and three hits in eight innings with three walks and eight strikeouts.

Ian Kinsler's 18th home run this season produced the lone Texas run leading off the top of the sixth.

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers 3, Texas 1

Arlington, Texas June 14: Matt Kemp's two-run homer Saturday led the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-1 inter-league win over the Texas Rangers.

Kemp's second hit of the contest, and eighth home run this season, snapped a 1-1 tie with two outs in the top of the seventh inning.

Rafael Furcal had one RBI and Orlando Hudson added two hits for the Dodgers, who have split their last four games.

The winner was reliever Cory Wade (2-3) after starter Randy Wolf gave up two hits in five scoreless innings.

Closer Jonathan Broxton, the last of five pitchers, earned his 15th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
