Calgary, Alberta -- Ilya Bryzgalov took a shutout deep into the third period Wednesday and the Phoenix Coyotes won their fourth in a row with a 3-1 decision over Calgary.
It is the longest winning streak of the season for the Coyotes, who jumped to a 2-0 lead after one period on goals from Wojtek Wolski and Martin Hanzal. The goal from Hanzal came on the power play.
Rene Bourque broke up Bryzgalov's bid for a shutout with 3:52 to play, giving the Flames a chance to pull out a victory. An empty-net goal by Lauri Korpikoski with 8 seconds to go ended that possibility.
Calgary lost its third in a row and has dropped six out of seven.
Bryzgalov stopped 39 shots to win his third straight. Calgary's Miikka Kiprusoff made 28 saves.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins lost for the first time in three games this season.
