MLB: Colorado 5, San Diego 3

San Diego, July 18: Clint Barmes homered as the second batter of the game Friday and the Colorado Rockies limited San Diego to three hits in downing the Padres 5-3.

All three San Diego hits came off Ubaldo Jimenez (7-9), who struck out 10 over seven innings. Franklin Morales and Huston Street combined to work two perfect innings, with Street earning his 23rd save.

Josh Geer (1-5) started for San Diego and retired leadoff man Dexter Fowler in the first on a failed bunt attempt. Barmes then put Colorado in front for good by hitting a homer in his second straight game.

A bases-loaded single by Chris Iannetta in the third added two runs and Ian Stewart had a two-run double in the fifth.

MLB: Colorado 8, Atlanta 7

Denver, July 12: Brad Hawpe's RBI double in the ninth inning Sunday gave the Colorado Rockies an 8-7 win over the Atlanta Braves.

Hawpe, who also homered in the Rockies' fifth win in seven games, hit a shot into the right-field gap that scored Seth Smith from first base.

Smith and Troy Tulowitzki also hit home runs for Colorado.

Huston Street (3-1) pitched a perfect ninth inning and earned the win.

Brooks Conrad homered, singled and tripled for Atlanta, driving in three runs.

Luis Valdez (0-1) took the loss in his first major league appearance. Valdez entered the game in the ninth and gave up a single to Smith and Hawpe's game-ending double.

MLB: Colorado 5, Arizona 0

Denver, July 3: Jorge De La Rosa threw eight shutout innings Friday and the Colorado Rockies opened a 10-game homestand with a 5-0 blanking of Arizona.

The Diamondbacks, who committed three errors and had only four hits, have lost eight of their last nine.

De La Rosa (5-7) won his third straight start. He allowed all four Arizona hits, struck out six and walked four.

Joel Peralta and Huston Street finished off the shutout by combining for a perfect ninth.

Ian Stewart put the Rockies in front with a solo homer in the second.

Max Scherzer (5-6) took the loss. He allowed five runs, three of them earned, on six hits in six innings.

The game was delayed 22 minutes at the start by rain.

MLB: Colorado 3, Milwaukee 2

Milwaukee, June 9: Clint Barmes' sacrifice fly capped a three-run seventh Tuesday, producing a 3-2 Colorado Rockies win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Jason Hammel (3-3) scattered two runs on five hits with a walk through six innings. Matt Daley, Manuel Corpas and Huston Street each pitched a perfect inning of relief for Colorado, which has won six straight for the first time since September 2007.

Dexter Fowler had two doubles and an RBI for the Rockies.

Mat Gamel hit a solo homer for the Brewers.

Todd Coffey (1-1) was charged with the loss. Milwaukee starter Braden Looper struck out seven while allowing two runs on seven hits in six-plus innings.

MLB: Colorado 3, San Diego 0

Denver -- Jason Marquis and Huston Street combined on a six-hit shutout Friday, carrying the Houston Astros to a 3-0 blanking of San Diego.

Marquis (7-3) gave up all six hits and struck out six while throwing just 103 pitches over eight innings.

Jim Tracy, managing his first game for the Rockies, then made his first big decision on the job by calling on Street to finish off the game. Street needed nine pitches to work a perfect inning and grab his eighth save.

Tracy was named manager earlier in the day when the Rockies dismissed Clint Hurdle. Colorado had lost its previous three games.

Yorvit Torrealba had an RBI single in the second, producing the only earned run of the game.
