St. Petersburgh, Fla. -- Police in Florida said a wife stabbed her husband of five months seven times with a steak knife when he refused to give up the TV remote.
Investigators said Deloris Holley, 61, of St. Petersburg, wanted to watch "The Closer" Monday night while her husband, David Marion, was more interested in watching the football game, WTSP-TV, Tampa, reported Friday.
Police said Holley became irate when Marion refused to give up the remote control so she retrieved a steak knife from the kitchen and stabbed her husband seven times, including a nearly fatal chest wound that punctured a lung.

Jackson, Calif. -- A California library said it refused to accept a $2,701 payment from a 95-year-old woman who returned a book her late husband checked out 74 years ago.
Hazel Severson said neighbor Laurie Gibson, 79, stumbled upon the Amador County Library's first-edition copy of "Seaplane Solo," an autobiographical account of Sir Francis Chichester's 1930 flight across the Tasman Sea, while cleaning at the Severson home and the widow immediately knew what to do with it, The Sacramento (Calif.) Bee reported Wednesday.
"It was the library's book," Severson said. "I wanted to get it back to them."

New York -- Artist and musician Yoko Ono took to Twitter Wednesday to mark the 30th anniversary of her husband John Lennon's slaying in New York.
The peace activist, rock 'n' roll icon and former member of the Beatles was 40 when he was gunned down outside his Manhattan apartment building by a deranged fan who remains in prison.
"Today, on this painful anniversary, please join me in remembering John with deep love and respect," The Hollywood Reporter said Ono tweeted Wednesday. "Despite his short, 40 years of life, he gave so much to the world. The world was blessed with fortune to have known John. ... We continue to learn so much from him even today. John, I love you. 2010/12/8 Yoko Ono Lennon."

Sheboygan, Wis. -- Police in Wisconsin said they arrested a woman who bit her 79-year-old husband's tongue off during a kiss.
Investigators said the Sheboygan man called 911 at about 11 p.m. Monday and an ambulance and police were dispatched to the home when operators had difficulty understanding the man, the Sheboygan (Wis.) Press reported Tuesday.
Officers said they arrived to find the man and his wife, 57, singing Christmas carols outside of their home. Sgt. Doug Teunissen said the man revealed half of his tongue had been bitten off by his wife while they were kissing inside shortly earlier.

Orlando, Fla. -- The husband of boxer Christy Martin has been transferred to a Florida jail while awaiting further proceedings on murder charges, jail records showed.
The Orlando Sentinel said Saturday that James Martin had recovered from apparently self-inflicted stab wounds enough to be moved from an Orlando hospital to the Orange County Jail.
James Martin faces first-degree murder charges in the Nov. 23 slaying of his wife, whom the newspaper said was one of the better-known female boxers in the United States. She once fought on the undercard of a Mike Tyson bout and was promoted by Don King.

Orlando -- Her husband's alleged assault on boxer Christy Martin may have been motivated by her affair with a woman, Florida police records released Wednesday said.
James Martin was arrested Tuesday after a week as a fugitive and hospitalized in Orlando after stabbing himself, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Officials say he will be arraigned after his release from the hospital.
Martin allegedly shot and stabbed his wife at their home in Apopka on Nov. 23.
Records released by the Orange County Sheriff's Department said the attack occurred shortly after Christy Martin spent two days at a motel with a longtime friend. She and the woman reportedly had recently begun a romantic relationship.

Nashville -- A Tennessee woman and her 12-year-old daughter said they were pleasantly shocked by the appearance of her Army sergeant husband at a Titans game.
Jodi Foster, 33, said she thought she and her daughter, Kayla, had only won tickets to the Veteran's Day game Sunday against the Washington Redskins for writing an essay about her husband, Sgt. Mark Foster, who was serving in Afghanistan, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported Thursday.
Foster said she and Kayla were called to the middle of LP Field in Nashville and surprised when Mark, fresh of his fifth deployment to Afghanistan, came riding out in a golf cart carrying bundles of red and yellow roses for his wife and daughter.

Los Angeles -- U.S. actress Eva Longoria has confirmed she filed for divorce from her husband Tony Parker in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The "Desperate Housewives" star and professional basketball player married three years ago.
"It is with great sadness that after seven years together, Tony and I have decided to divorce," Longoria said in a statement Wednesday afternoon. "We love each other deeply and pray for each other's happiness."
Irreconcilable differences was cited in the legal papers as the cause for the split, UsMagazine.com said.

Lynn, Mass. -- A Massachusetts woman has denied allegations she chased her husband with a knife because he wouldn't help with her hair weave.
Lynn police said Kenneth Rudolph, 48, called 911 Saturday and he told arriving officers his wife, Kaukauna Gethers Rudolph, 51, had chased him with a 15-inch knife because he refused to help her while she was taking out her old hair weave in preparation for putting in new extensions, The Boston Herald reported Wednesday.
Police said the wife was holding the knife behind her back when they arrived. She was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.
However, Kaukauna Gethers Rudolph said she never asked her husband to help with her hair.

Birmingham, England -- A British politician's wife is facing a burglary charge for allegedly stealing a kitten from her husband's mistress, authorities said.
Christine Hemming, 52, the wife of John Hemming, who represents Birmingham in Parliament, was charged with burglary after she allegedly took the kitten Sept. 29 from the home of Emily Cox, The Birmingham Post reported Thursday.
"At the time there was a four-year-old child and an adult present in the house. The kitten had sentimental value to the 4-year-old child," prosecutor David Devine said. "Because of the deliberate targeting of Miss Cox and the history between the two women, it must be dealt with at the crown court."
