Montag's mother working as a maid

Los Angeles -- Darlene Egelhoff, the mother of U.S. reality television personality Heidi Montag, says the recession has forced her to work as a maid.

Egelhoff told TV's "Inside Edition" she and her husband owned a restaurant for 21 years, but had to close it because of the economy. She said they have been struggling to pay their bills since and the only job she could find in Crested Butte, Colo., was cleaning houses.

The celebrity mom admitted it has been awkward when a client recognizes her.
"That's been very humbling for me and I very much appreciate that experience because I don't ever want to get full of myself and think I'm too good to do anything," Egelhoff said.

Los Angeles -- Reality TV personality Heidi Montag has filed for divorce from Spencer Pratt, her husband of about a year, court records filed in Santa Monica, Calif., show.

Montag filed for legal separation from Pratt nearly two months ago.

The former couple have appeared together on "The Hills" and "I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!"

"Heidi has amended her petition for separation and today has filed a petition for dissolution of marriage from Spencer Pratt," Montag's lawyer, Jodeane Farrell, told People.com Friday. "The couple has agreed they would like their divorce to be finalized in a timely manner in an out-of-court settlement. Both parties are amicable with each other and over the possibility of finalizing their divorce."
