Miami, Sept. 22: Anibal Sanchez pitched eight shutout innings and Dan Uggla and Cody Ross hit solo home runs Tuesday to give the Florida Marlins a 3-0 win over Philadelphia.
MIAMI, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Anibal Sanchez pitched eight shutout innings and Dan Uggla and Cody Ross hit solo home runs Tuesday to give the Florida Marlins a 3-0 win over Philadelphia.
The win came in the second game of a doubleheader after Philadelphia won the first game 9-3.
Sanchez (3-7) allowed just two hits -- both to Chase Utley -- walked two and struck out seven for his first win in six starts. Leo Nunez got his 24th save with a perfect ninth.
Hanley Ramirez added two hits, including an RBI double.

New York, Sept. 8: Hanley Ramirez and Cameron Maybin each hit two-run homers Tuesday to lead the Florida Marlins to a 4-2 win over the New York Mets.
The Marlins have won five of their last six games and remained six games behind the NL East-leading Phillies, who beat Washington Tuesday.
Florida starter Rick VandenHurk went four innings, allowing one run on four hits.
Brian Sanches (4-1) pitched two scoreless innings to get the win and Leo Nunez earned his 19th save of the year.
Luis Castillo went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Mets. Josh Thole drove in the other run.
Tim Redding (2-5) gave up four runs and five hits in five innings to take the loss.

Miami, Aug. 28: Kyle Blanks and three other San Diego players had two RBI each Friday in the Padres' 9-5 win over the Florida Marlins.
Blanks's two-run homer, his only hit, came during a six-run second.
David Eckstein had three hits and two RBI.
Everth Cabrera and Will Venable had two hits and two RBI apiece.
Chase Headley had three hits and one RBI for the Padres, who have won three of four.
The winner was starter Kevin Correia (9-10).
Florida's Wes Helms had two hits and two RBI.
Chris Coghlan had three hits and one RBI.
Cody Ross had two hits and one RBI.
John Baker drove in a run, and Hanley Ramirez had two hits for the Marlins, who have lost seven of 11.

Atlanta, Aug. 22: Jeremy Hermida and Hanley Ramirez homered during a four-run seventh Friday, and Florida waited out a long rain delay to down Atlanta 5-3.
The game finished just before 1 a.m. EDT after rain disrupted the action in the ninth inning.
Florida broke a second-place tie with Atlanta in the National League East and moved within 5 1/2 games of division-leading Philadelphia.
Florida had a 1-0 lead going into the seventh before striking against starter Javier Vazquez (10-9).
Hermida opened the inning with his 13th homer of the year. Wes Helms followed with a double and went to third on a sacrifice.
Ross Gload drove in Helms with a two-out single, and Ramirez came through with a two-run homer.

Miami, Aug. 13: Wes Helms produced the only extra base hit in a six-run sixth inning Thursday and the Florida Marlins used that outburst to run past Houston 9-2.
One night after having a five-game winning streak snapped, the Marlins moved a half game in front of idle Atlanta for second place in the National League East, 4 ½ games behind division-leading Philadelphia.
Sean West (4-4) allowed a run on five hits over six innings to get the win and his victory was all but wrapped up when the Marlins sent 10 men to the plate in the sixth.
Helms doubled in the first run of the inning and Ross Gload then delivered a bases-loaded, RBI single.

Miami, Aug. 11: Dan Uggla hit a bases-loaded two-out single in the bottom of the 11th Tuesday to give the Florida Marlins a 9-8 win over the Houston Astros.
Wesley Wright (2-2) started the 11th for Houston and walked the bases full.
Alberto Arias came on to face Uggla who drove in Chris Coghlan to end the game.
Brian Sanches (3-1) worked the top of the 11th to earn the win.
Uggla and Hanley Ramirez each had three hits and two RBI and John Baker drove in three runs with a pair of hits.
The Astros trailed by a run entering the ninth, but Leo Nunez gave up a one-out double to Miguel Tejada, who moved to third on a Carlos Lee base hit and scored on Geoff Blum's single.

Miami, Aug. 10: John Baker hit a two-run double Monday to spark the Florida Marlins in an 8-6 victory over the Houston Astros.
Hanley Ramirez added two hits and an RBI and Chris Coghlan scored two runs and drove in another for the Marlins.
Rick VandenHurk (2-1), coming off his first loss of the season, surrendered five hits and two runs while walking three five innings to get the victory.
The Astros have won just four of their last 12 games. Darin Erstad drove in three runs with a two-run homer and an RBI double and Carlos Lee had a two-run double in the ninth for Houston.
Loser Brian Moehler (7-8) allowed four runs and five hits over five innings for Houston.

Philadelphia -- Hanley Ramirez had four of Florida's 19 hits and three RBI Sunday, leading the Marlins' 12-3 rout of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Chris Coghlan also had four hits with two RBI. Wes Helms had a two-run homer and three RBI. Jorge Cantu had two RBI, while Cody Ross added three hits and one RBI for the Marlins, who swept the three-game series after losing three straight at Washington.
Winner Josh Johnson (11-2) yielded a run and four hits in six innings with a walk and six strikeouts.
Philadelphia scored on a two-run homer by Pedro Feliz and a sacrifice fly by Ryan Howard.
Greg Dobbs and Jimmy Rollins had two hits each for the Phillies, who have lost six of eight.

Miami, July 29: Josh Johnson worked six innings and helped his own cause with a three-run homer in the fourth Wednesday, lifting Florida to a 6-3 victory over Atlanta.
Johnson (10-2) allowed three runs on eight hits to record his third straight win.
He homered for the second time this season after hitting none his first four years.
Hanley Ramirez had a triple and homer while driving in two runs, and Dan Uggla added a solo shot for the Marlins, who have won seven of their last eight games.
Kenshin Kawakami (5-8) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs on seven hits in 4 2/3. Atlanta's runs came on homers -- a solo shot by Casey Kotchman in the fifth and a two-run blast from Garret Anderson in the sixth.

Miami, July 28: Ross Gload had a two-run, pinch-hit homer off Atlanta closer Rafael Soriano in the ninth Tuesday to give the Florida Marlins a 4-3 win over Atlanta.
Garret Anderson had a leadoff home run in the top of the ninth to give Atlanta a 3-2 lead.
But Soriano (1-2) walked Cody Ross to start the bottom of the inning, and Gload drove a low 3-1 fastball into the right-center field seats.
Hanley Ramirez earlier had a two-run double for Florida, which has won six of its last seven games.
Ricky Nolasco, who has won five of his last six decisions, gave up two runs on seven hits in seven innings for Florida. Leo Nunez (3-3) got the win despite allowing Anderson's home run in the ninth.

Los Angeles, July 26: Hanley Ramirez had two hits and three RBI Sunday, helping the Florida Marlins record an 8-6 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ramirez's two-run double staked Florida to a 3-0 lead with two outs in the top of the third.
Chris Coghlan, Dan Uggla and Jorge Cantu all had two hits and one RBI, with Uggla hitting a solo fourth-inning homer. One run scored on Rafael Furcal's third-inning error and the Marlins won for the second time in the three-game series.
Winner Chris Volstad (8-9), the first of six pitchers, gave up four runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Volstad (7-9) struck out two and walked four while the Padres, who have lost five of six games since the All-Star break, mustered only single runs in the first and ninth innings.
Leo Nunez picked up his sixth save despite serving up a solo home run to Kyle Blanks leading off the ninth.
Hanley Ramirez had three hits for the Marlins, and John Baker had two.
Chad Gaudin (4-9) took the loss on three runs and nine hits in six innings.
San Diego scored a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Adrian Gonzalez.
