New York -- The price of gold rebounded but then lost ground Monday, giving a boost to grains, oil, gold and sugar, which is approaching a 30-year high.
Wheat, corn, soybeans and oats rose on the Chicago Board of Trade as the drop in the dollar index accelerated toward the close of market, dropping 0.44 percent by late afternoon. Raw sugar futures in New York hit an intraday peak of 28.75 cents per pound as expectations of high crop yields in Brazil and India have fallen, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Chicago -- Grain futures closed lower Thursday as the dollar index rose 0.35 percent and equities posted modest gains on Wall Street.
Corn was off 9 1/4 to off 9 3/4, soybeans were off 10 1/2 to off 11 1/4, wheat was off 14 to off 14 3/4 and oats were unchanged to up 1.
Corn futures fell in step with drops in oil and gold prices, which dropped with the dollar firming. Wheat futures dropped with scattered rain expected across the Midwest. Soybeans despite a report of strong weekly export sales, 1.45 million metric sold to China alone.

Corn: Dec. 5.64 1/4, off 9 1/4; Mar 5.75 3/4, off 9 3/4; May 5.81 1/2, off 9 3/4; Jul 5.84, off 9 3/4.

Chicago -- Wheat futures slid Wednesday despite a fourth consecutive gain in equity markets in Asia, Europe and on Wall Street.
The dollar was weaker through most of the day with the dollar index down 0.36 percent as markets closed.
Corn was off 8 1/4 to off 9 3/4, soybeans were off 2 to off 5 3/4, wheat was off 6 to off 7 1/2 and oats were unchanged to off 3.
Corn prices fell, although the Environmental Protection Agency said it would waive limitations on selling 15 percent ethanol fuels for newer model cars.

Chicago -- Grains closed higher on the Chicago Board of Trade Thursday with the dollar index off 0.17 percent.
Corn was up 3/4 to up 1, soybeans were off 3 1/2 to off 4 1/2, wheat was up 3 3/4 to up 5 1/4.
Corn closed higher with the U.S. Department of Agriculture announcing a sale of 120,000 metric tons to Egypt this morning. Wheat futures rose modestly with India, potentially, on the verge of ending an export ban due to high domestic supplies. Soybeans, like corn, were supported by a large purchase by Egypt, in this case 100,000 metric tons.

Corn: Sep 4.33, up 3/4; Dec 4.47 1/2, up 3/4; Mar 4.60 3/4, up 1; May 4.67 1/4; up 1.

Chicago -- Grains were mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Wednesday with wheat futures up sharply and soybean prices moderately lower.
Corn was up 7 1/4 to up 7 1/2, soybeans were off 3 1/2 to off 4 1/2, wheat was up 21 1/2 to up 23 and oats were up 2 to up 3.
Corn closed higher with support from the dollar index, which fell 0.92 percent.
Wheat futures shot higher with Tunisia tendering for 100,000 metric tons of wheat, half in soft wheat, and half durum. Favorable weather in the Midwest, expected for the rest of the week, put pressure on soybean futures Wednesday.

Corn: Dec 4.46 3/4, up 7 1/2; Mar 4.59 3/4, up 7 1/2; May 4.66 1/4, up 7 1/2; Jul 4.71 3/4; up 7 1/4.

Chicago -- Grains closed mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Tuesday with soybeans closing higher and oats, wheat and corn closing lower.
Corn was off 5 1/4 to off 7 1/2, soybeans were up 1/2 to up 3 3/4, wheat was off 3 to off 5 1/4 and oats were off 4 1/2.
Corn prices dropped with rain in the Midwest considered beneficial. Wheat closed lower, also due to improved weather -- news from Egypt adding it had purchased 120,000 metric tons from Russian sources. Soybeans were up despite a report from India that crop planting was progressing ahead of expectations.

Corn: Sep 3.74, off 7 1/2; Dec 3.87 1/2, off 6 1/2; Mar 4.00, off 6; May 4.08 1/4,. off 5 1/4.

Chicago -- Grains closed lower Monday on the Chicago Board of Trade, as the dollar index rose 0.13 percent
Corn was off 11 1/4 to up 13 1/4, soybeans were off 11 1/2 to off 13, wheat was off 3 1/2 to off 5 1/2 and oats were off 7.
Corn prices dropped with the U.S. Department of Agriculture reporting 30 percent of the crop has reached the silking stage, behind its historic average of 47 percent for this time of year. Soybean acreage is reportedly 41 percent in bloom, behind the five-year average of 56 percent. Also behind their averages, the winter wheat harvest is 69 percent done, while the spring wheat crop is 80 percent headed out, the USDA said.

Chicago -- Grain futures were mostly flat at the close Tuesday on the Chicago Board of Trade as equity markets on Wall Street rose more than 2 percent.
Corn was unchanged to off 1/4, soybeans were off 1/4 to off 2, wheat was off 1 to up 1/4 and and oats were up 17 to up 27.
Corn, wheat and soybean futures were flat Tuesday as equities rose and the dollar index fell 0.58 percent. Oat prices rallied, climbing along with oil prices, which made modest gains in New York.

Corn: Jly 3.53 3/4, unchanged; Sep 3.63, unchanged; Dec 3.75, unchanged; Mar 3.88, off 1/4.

Chiacgo -- Grain futures closed mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Thursday, as the dollar index rose 0.47 percent and equities closed flat on Wall Street.
Corn was up 1/4 to up 1, soybeans were up 16 1/4 to up 22 1/2, wheat was off 3/4 to off 1 and oats were up 3 1/2 to up 4.
Corn prices rose after an early drop to an eight-month low in early trading for July delivery contracts. Wheat futures fell slightly as hot weather moved into the South and central Plains states. Soybeans rallied as traders expect sales will show a surge in the next weekly U.S. Department of Agriculture export report.

Chicago -- Prices closed mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Wednesday, as U.S. equity markets tumbled for the third trading session in the week.
Corn was up 3/4 to up 1 1/4, soybeans were up 5 3/4 to up 6 3/4, wheat was up 2 1/4 to off 3 and oats were off 1.
Corn futures rose slightly with rain expected through the weekend in the northeastern Corn Belt. Wheat prices rose with the dollar index fluctuating through the day, closing off 0.52 percent. Soybean futures regained some ground from Thursday's steep drop, with traders keeping an eye on equities and oil.

Washington -- Commodity prices rose on the Chicago Board of Trade Thursday, despite extended favorable weather and a 0.65 percent rise in the dollar index.
Corn was up 1/4 to up 3, soybeans were up 8 3/4 to up 10 1/2, wheat was up 10 1/2 to up 11 1/4 and oats were up 2 1/2 to up 2 3/4.
The International Grain Council said global corn production for the year would reach a record high of 809 million metric tons. Wheat production was pegged at 658 million metric tons, a drop of 17 million metric tons from a year ago.
Soybean futures found support from fund traders with weekly sales at 94.2 percent of the U.S. Department of Agriculture forecast for the year to date.
