MLB: Los Angeles Angels 7, Cleveland 6

Anaheim, Calif. July 29: Gary Matthews Jr. drove in three runs with a double in the eighth inning that carried the Los Angeles of Anaheim past the Cleveland Indians 7-6 Tuesday.

Matthews lined a pitch off Tony Sipp into the left-center gap with the bases loaded to stake the Angels to a 7-4 lead that held up even though closer Brian Fuentes, who leads the majors with 30 saves but blew a save chance Monday, surrendered a pair of runs in the ninth inning.

Matt Palmer (9-1) picked up his first win out of the bullpen with three scoreless innings. Indians starter David Huff (5-5) took the loss after giving up five runs on eight hits in seven innings.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels 12, Arizona 8

Phoenix, June 28: Gary Matthews Jr. had a three-run double and stole home Sunday, helping the Los Angeles Angels to a 12-8 inter-league victory over Arizona.

The American League West-leading Angels completed a three-game sweep of the Diamondbacks.

Maicer Izturis had two hits, including a ninth-inning two-run home run, and scored three times. Juan Rivera drove in two runs with his only hit of the game, a two-run homer in the fifth.

Jeff Mathis hit a solo homer in the eighth, Chone Figgins had one RBI and Kendry Morales added three hits for the Angels, who have won five in a row.

LA starter Matt Palmer (7-1) got the win, despite allowing six runs on 10 hits with two walks and no strikeouts over five innings.

MLB: LA Dodgers 6, LA Angels 4

Anaheim, Calif. June 21: Andre Ethier hit a key two-run triple Saturday, helping the Los Angeles Dodgers record a 6-4 inter-league win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Ethier's hit gave the Dodgers a 5-2 lead with two outs in the top of the fifth inning.

Russell Martin had three hits -- one a solo homer with one out in the third. Casey Blake had one RBI.

A run scored on Kevin Jepsen's sixth-inning wild pitch and Juan Pierre added two hits for the Dodgers, who have split their last four contests and have won five of seven.

The winning pitcher was starter Jeff Weaver (4-1).
