MLB: Cincinnati 3, Florida 2

Cincinnati, Sept. 18: Darnell McDonald homered during Cincinnati's three-run first Thursday and five pitchers made the lead stand up in a 3-2 decision over Florida.

Since the final day of August, Cincinnati has won seven in a row, lost five straight and now has won five out of six.

After McDonald opened the first inning with his home run against Anibal Sanchez (2-7), the Reds loaded the bases and Jay Bruce delivered a two-run single to shallow left.

Matt Maloney (1-4) gave up two runs over five innings to earn his first major league victory in his sixth start.

Ramon Ramirez, Arthur Rhodes, Nick Masset and Francisco Cordero then combined to throw four innings of one-hit relief. Cordero picked up his 38th save.

MLB: Colorado 4, Cincinnati 3

Denver, Sept. 9: An infield single by Seth Smith drove in two runs with two away in the ninth Wednesday, rallying the Colorado Rockies to a 4-3 victory over Cincinnati.

The Reds took a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth on a solo homer by Scott Rolen but let the game get away in the bottom of the inning on a grounder that eluded the grasp of second baseman Brandon Phillips.

Colorado's comeback gave the Rockies their sixth straight win and pushed their lead over San Francisco in the National League wild-card race to four games. The Giants lost earlier in the day to San Diego 4-2.

MLB: Cincinnati 4, Milwaukee 3

Milwaukee, Aug. 27: Darnell McDonald doubled home Craig Tatum with two away in the 10th inning Wednesday, lifting the Cincinnati Reds to a 4-3 victory over Milwaukee.

Cincinnati has put together its first three-game winning streak in three months.

Milwaukee took a 3-2 lead in the fifth on a solo homer by Jody Gerut and a two-run shot by Prince Fielder, but Cincinnati tied it in the eighth with the help of one of three errors committed by the Brewers.

With one out in the eighth, Kevin Barker reached first safely and Scott Rolen scored from third on a throwing error by pitcher Claudio Vargas.

The loss went to Mike Burns (3-5), who gave up the double to McDonald in the 10th.

MLB: San Francisco 8, Cincinnati 5

Cincinnati, Aug. 19: Ryan Garko's two-run double in the 10th inning Tuesday drove in the winning run in San Francisco's 8-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds.

Garko, who had tied the game with a two-run single in the sixth, brought Pablo Sandoval and Randy Winn in from second and third and then scored on Aaron Rowand's single.

The damage came against Francisco Cordero (1-3), who took the loss after giving up three runs on three hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning.

Bob Howry (1-5) picked up the win in relief of Giants ace Tim Lincecum, who gave up five runs on four hits and three walks in six innings. Brian Wilson earned his 29th save.

MLB: Cincinnati 5, San Francisco 2

San Francisco, Aug. 9: Adam Rosales had three hits Sunday, including a two-run homer, leading the Cincinnati Reds to a 5-2 win over San Francisco.

Rosales' homer, his fourth, gave Cincinnati a 4-0 lead with one out in the top of the fourth.

Brandon Phillips hit a solo homer. Wladimir Balentien had two hits and one RBI and a run scored on a wild pitch for the Reds, who have won three of four.

Winner Aaron Harang (6-13) surrendered two runs and seven hits in seven innings with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Francisco Cordero got his 24th save despite giving up two hits in the ninth.

MLB: Cincinnati 4, Milwaukee 0

Cincinnati, July 17: Bronson Arroyo teamed with two relievers on a six-hitter Friday and Edwin Encarnacion drove in two runs, bringing the Cincinnati Reds a 4-0 win over Milwaukee.

Arroyo (10-8), who shut out the New York Mets on four hits in previous start, allowed five hits and struck out six over seven innings Friday.

Arthur Rhodes came on to work a perfect eighth and Francisco Cordero allowed a hit and struck out one during the ninth in a non-save situation.

Encarnacion, who went 3-for-3 in the series opener Thursday, went 4-for-4 Friday.

He had an RBI single during Cincinnati's two-run fifth and added a solo homer in the eighth.

The Reds ended a three-game losing streak and won for only the third time in 10 games.

MLB: Cincinnati 4, Philadelphia 3

Philadelphia, July 7: Ramon Hernandez singled home the winning run in the top of the ninth Tuesday to give Cincinnati a 4-3 victory over Philadelphia.

After trailing 3-0, the Reds battled back with two home runs by Brandon Phillips.

Philadelphia went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.

David Weathers (1-1) pitched one inning for the win. Francisco Cordero pitched a scoreless ninth for his 21st save.

Brad Lidge (0-4) took the loss after giving up two hits and a walk in the ninth.

Joey Votto doubled down the right-field line to begin the decisive inning, moved to third on a bunt and scored when Hernandez singled to center.

MLB: Cincinnati 1, Arizona 0

Cincinnati, July 1: Johnny Cueto blanked Arizona for six innings and teamed with three relievers on a two-hitter Wednesday, bringing Cincinnati a 1-0 win over the Diamondbacks.

Cueto (8-4) struck out eight, walked four and allowed only a lead-off, infield single to Felipe Lopez in the third.

Arizona's other hit was a bunt single by Gerardo Parra to open the seventh off Arthur Rhodes.

David Weathers and Francisco Cordero each worked a perfect inning, with Cordero earning his 19th save.

The hard-luck loser was Jon Garland (4-8), who allowed a run on six hits in six innings. He has not won a start since May 19, going 0-6 in eight outings since then.

MLB: Cincinnati 4, Atlanta 3

Cincinnati, June 17: Micah Owings won for the first time in seven starts Wednesday, helping himself with a three-run homer in the fifth in Cincinnati's 4-3 victory over Atlanta.

The Reds trailed 2-1 going into the fifth, but Javier Vazquez walked Jerry Hairston to open the inning and Ryan Hanigan singled Hairston to third.

That brought up the Cincinnati pitcher, who hit an 0-1 pitch over the wall in right for his second home run of the season and the seventh of his three-year major league career.

Owings (4-7) gave up two runs on six hits in six innings. Francisco Cordero worked around a one-out walk in the ninth to earn his 16th save.

Vazquez (4-6) went the distance, giving up just four hits and striking out seven.
