MLB: NY Yankees 5, Toronto 4

New York, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Francisco Cervelli singled in Brett Gardner from third with one out in the ninth inning Wednesday, giving the New York Yankees a 5-4 win over Toronto.

The Yankees faced a 4-2 deficit going into the eighth, but Hideki Matsui tied it in that inning with a two-run homer and New York won in the ninth against Jason Frasor.

Frasor (6-3) gave up a lead-off single to Gardner in the ninth and Gardner stole second base. Derek Jeter grounded out to shortstop, moving Gardner to third, and Cervelli delivered the winning run with a base hit to left-center.

Mariano Rivera (3-2) got the win by working the top of the ninth. He allowed a bunt single by Travis Snider to open the inning, but the Blue Jays could not get the runner past first base.

MLB: N.Y. Yankees 10, Minnesota 2

Minneapolis, July 8: The New York Yankees cranked out 16 hits in support of CC Sabathia's seven strong innings in Tuesday's 10-2 rout of the Minnesota Twins.

Brett Gardner, Robinson Cano and Francisco Cervelli each had two RBI for the Yankees.

Sabathia (8-5) gave up one run on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk for the win.

Scott Baker (6-7) took the loss for the Twins. He was run out of the game after three-plus innings, having been tagged for five runs on nine hits.

Michael Cuddyer hit a solo home run for Minnesota in the bottom of the second after the New Yorkers has taken a 3-0 lead with a run in the first and two in the second on Cervelli's sacrifice fly and an RBI single by Mark Teixeira.
