MLB: Cleveland 3, Tampa Bay 1 (7 inninngs)

Cleveland -- Fausto Carmona allowed an unearned run and struck out seven over five innings Friday, lifting Cleveland to a 3-1, rain-shortened victory over Tampa Bay.

The game was delayed by rain in the fifth inning and finally halted after seven.
Cleveland has won seven out of eight following the All-Star break and the Indians have captured 18 straight home games against Tampa Bay. It is the longest active winning streak in the majors for one team over another in a particular stadium.
Tampa Bay hasn't won in Cleveland since Sept. 28, 2005.

Carmona (10-7) captured his third straight start. Tony Sipp struck out three over two relief innings and picked up the first save of his two-year career.

MLB: Cleveland 4, Baltimore 2

Cleveland, Sept. 25: Fausto Carmona gave up nine hits but just two runs in six innings Friday, helping the Cleveland Indians to a 4-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

In his best outing this season, Carmona (9-12) threw 92 pitches, walked one batter, struck out six and induced eight timely ground ball outs.

One of two hits by Luis Valbuena was a fifth-inning solo homer. Lou Marson had two RBI.
A run scored on Melvin Mora's fifth-inning error, while Matt LaPorta added two hits for the Indians, who snapped an 11-game losing streak, one shy of the franchise record set in 1931.

Nick Markakis homered and Michael Aubrey drove in a run to lead Baltimore, which has lost eight in a row.

The losing pitcher was starter David Hernandez (4-9).

MLB: Minnesota 5, Cleveland 4

Minneapolis, Sept. 16: Nick Punto drove in two runs and Orlando Cabrera had a solo home run Tuesday in Minnesota's 5-4 win over the Cleveland Indians.

Joe Mauer went 2-for-3 to drive in a run and raise his batting average to .373, the best in the majors.

Joe Rauch (3-1) picked up the win in relief of starter Scott Baker, who lasted 5 1/3 innings. Joe Nathan earned his 40th save.

Fausto Carmona (3-11) took the loss after giving up five runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Matt La Porta had two RBI for Cleveland, including a solo home run in the ninth inning. Jamey Carroll had two hits and an RBI.

MLB: Baltimore 13, Cleveland 4

Baltimore, Aug. 29: Matt Wieters and Nick Markakis combined to drive in seven runs Friday and lead Baltimore to a 13-4 decision over Cleveland.

Rookie Jason Berken won his second straight decision thanks to the Orioles producing their second-largest run total of the season.

Wieters doubled in a run in the second, had an RBI single in the fourth and then drove in two more runs in the sixth with his third hit of the game. Markakis launched a three-run homer in the seventh.

Berken (4-11), allowed two runs over five innings to get the win. After struggling during the first half of the season, Berken picked up a victory last Sunday against Chicago to help the Orioles win their first series since the All-Star break.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels 5, Cleveland 4

Cleveland, Aug. 18: Vladimir Guerrero and Torii Hunter combined for five of the Angels' 13 hits Tuesday to lead Los Angeles to a 5-4 win over the Cleveland Indians.

The two Angels had both missed significant time with injuries, but Guerrero was 3-for-5 with a run scored and Hunter 2-for-5 for LA, which improved to 26-8 since July 10.

Trevor Bell (1-0) got his first major league win in his second-ever start, holding Cleveland to three runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Brian Fuentes earned his 35th save of the season.

Every player in the Angels' starting lineup Tuesday now has a batting average of at least .300.

Asdrubal Cabrera had four hits and an RBI for the Indians, who have lost four of six. Jhonny Peralta added two hits and two RBI.

MLB: Texas 5, Cleveland 0

Cleveland, Aug. 12: Tommy Hunter took a shutout into the eighth inning Wednesday, and Josh Hamilton had three hits and two RBI to lead Texas past Cleveland 5-0.

It was the second shutout in three games for the Texas pitching staff.

Hunter (5-2) allowed six hits, struck out five and did not walk a batter in 7 2/3 innings. After giving up a two-out single to Grady Sizemore in the eighth, Hunter was replaced by C.J. Wilson.

Wilson finished the game by retiring all four men he faced, striking out three of them.

Texas remained five games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Angels in the American League West after the Angels completed a sweep of Tampa Bay earlier in the day.
