Delaney: Big 10 won't rush expansion

Scottsdale, Ariz. -- Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delaney said Wednesday the conference will take its time studying potential expansion plans.

Delaney, speaking to reporters in Scottsdale, Ariz., during the Bowl Championship Series meetings, indicated it has yet to be decided if the Big Ten will even expand at all, much less discuss possible new members, the Chicago Tribune reported.

"The (university) presidents have been clear: This may not happen," Delany said, adding that the Big Ten will remain deliberate about its expansion moves even as officials of rival conferences are sweating bullets about possible raids of member schools.
