San Diego, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Everth Cabrera's third hit Wednesday, a 10th-inning RBI single, boosted San Diego to a 6-5 win over Arizona, averting a three-game sweep.

Cabrera's heroics were set up by a two-run pinch homer by Adrian Gonzalez, which created a 5-5 tie with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

Tony Gwynn, Jr., and Nick Hundley had one RBI each.

Luis Durango also had three hits and Henry Blanco two for the Padres, who have split their last six games.

The winner was closer Heath Bell (6-4), San Diego's ninth pitcher.
Justin Upton led Arizona with five hits and one RBI.

Chris Young had two hits and one RBI, while a run scored on pitcher Ryan Webb's sixth-inning throwing error for the Diamondbacks, who have lost seven of 10.

MLB: San Diego 9, Florida 5

Miami, Aug. 28: Kyle Blanks and three other San Diego players had two RBI each Friday in the Padres' 9-5 win over the Florida Marlins.

Blanks's two-run homer, his only hit, came during a six-run second.

David Eckstein had three hits and two RBI.

Everth Cabrera and Will Venable had two hits and two RBI apiece.

Chase Headley had three hits and one RBI for the Padres, who have won three of four.

The winner was starter Kevin Correia (9-10).

Florida's Wes Helms had two hits and two RBI.

Chris Coghlan had three hits and one RBI.

Cody Ross had two hits and one RBI.

John Baker drove in a run, and Hanley Ramirez had two hits for the Marlins, who have lost seven of 11.

MLB: San Diego 6, N.Y. Mets 2

San Diego, Aug. 8: Everth Cabrera hit a grand slam homer with none out in the ninth inning Friday, bringing San Diego a 6-2 win over the New York Mets.

The Padres trailed by a run heading into the ninth, but got to New York closer Francisco Rodriguez and downed the Mets for the second straight game.

Rodriguez (2-3) walked Kyle Blanks to open the ninth, and Blanks scored the tying run on a double by Will Venable.

Venable went to third on the futile throw home, and Rodriguez then walked Henry Blanco and Oscar Salazar intentionally to load the bases in hopes of creating a force out at home.

Cabrera battled his way through a nine-pitch at-bat, falling behind 0-2 and eventually working the count full before hitting his homer to right.

MLB: Cincinnati 6, San Diego 4

Cincinnati, July 27: Jonny Gomes hit two solo home runs Monday to help the Cincinnati Reds post a 6-4 victory over the San Diego Padres.

Brandon Phillips hit a three-run homer and Edwin Encarnacion added a solo shot for the Reds, who ended a season-high six-game losing streak.

Homer Bailey (2-2) got his first win in a month after he allowed three runs on six hits with a walk over 7 1/3 innings.

Willy Taveras had two outfield assists for Cincinnati, which included throwing out Kyle Blanks at home for the third out of the second inning.

Adrian Gonzalez, Everth Cabrera and Kevin Kouzmanoff each hit a solo home run for the Padres, who have lost eight of their last nine games.

MLB: San Francisco 2, San Diego 1

San Francisco, July 12: Pablo Sandoval hit a two-run homer and six Giants' pitchers scattered six hits Friday in San Francisco's 2-1 win over San Diego.

Sandoval drove in Randy Winn with a fourth-inning homer off Padres' starter Tim Stauffer (0-1), who went seven innings, allowing the two runs on four hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Everth Cabrera scored from second on a throwing error in the eighth to account for the only run for the Padres, who have lost 10 of their last 11 games.

Giants' starter Matt Cain left the game with two out in the second after sustaining a right arm injury when he was hit by a line drive. X-rays were negative and the injury was diagnosed as a bruise.

MLB: San Diego 7, Los Angeles Dodgers 4

San Diego, July 4: Everth Cabrera's two hits and three RBI Saturday led the San Diego Padres to a 7-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Cabrera's bases-loaded two-run single gave San Diego a 3-2 lead with one out in the bottom of the seventh. He added an RBI single in the eighth, San Diego's second three-run inning of the game.

David Eckstein hit two RBI singles. Adrian Gonzalez had two hits and one RBI and a run scored on Casey Blake's eighth-inning throwing error to help the Padres break a three-game losing streak.

The winner was reliever Greg Burke (1-0).

MLB: San Diego 7, Texas 3

Arlington, Texas June 27: Kyle Blanks had two hits and three RBI Saturday when the San Diego Padres recorded a 7-3 inter-league win over the Texas Rangers.

Blanks, hitting just .190 coming into the game, had two doubles and drove in three runs -- one in the second inning and two in the fifth.

David Eckstein had two hits and two RBI. Everth Cabrera and Henry Blanco both had two hits and one RBI, while both Chase Headley and Kevin Kouzmanoff had two runs and three hits for the Padres, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Winner Kevin Correia (5-5) yielded three earned runs and five hits in seven innings with one walk and nine strikeouts.

MLB: Oakland 6, San Diego 3

San Diego, June 21: Kurt Suzuki's seventh-inning RBI single Saturday helped the Oakland Athletics record a 6-3 inter-league win over the San Diego Padres.

Suzuki's only hit of the game snapped a 3-3 tie with two outs in the top of the inning. Oakland's Adam Kennedy had four hits -- one a solo homer in the sixth -- to go with two RBI and three runs scored.

Ryan Sweeney and Jack Cust had two hits and one RBI apiece for the Athletics, who can complete a three-game sweep with a win Sunday.

Michael Wuertz (4-1) got the victory and Andrew Bailey, the last of four Oakland pitchers, earned his eighth save.
