New York -- Television and recording star Mitch Miller died at New York's Lenox Hill Hospital following a short illness, his daughter said. He was 99.
Miller, a Manhattan resident, died Saturday, his daughter Margaret Miller Reuther told The New York Times Monday.
The elder Miller was best known for his "Sing Along with Mitch" album series, which began in 1958 and catered to a crowd that preferred classic tunes like "Home on the Range," "That Old Gang of Mine" and "I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen."
The concept was adapted as a television show in 1961 and included lyrics to the songs at the bottom of the screen, with a bouncing ball for viewers to follow, the Times said.

Los Angeles -- Bristol Palin, the daughter of former U.S. vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, and her fiance, Levi Johnston, have split a second time, sources told E! News.
The sources said the breakup followed a fight between the Alaska natives over one of Johnston's ex-girlfriends, E! News reported.
The younger Palin, 19, and Johnston, 20, are the parents of a 19-month-old son named Tripp.
Neither Palin nor Johnston has publicly commented on the latest split, E! News said.

New York -- Levi Johnston's mother, Sherry, says it would kill her to be left off the guest list of Levi's wedding to Bristol Palin.
Johnston and Palin, the 19-year-old daughter of former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, recently told Us Weekly they are engaged again, but they don't have the blessings of their families.
Levi, 20, is the father of the younger Palin's 18-month-old son, Tripp. The couple called off a previous engagement shortly after the child was born in December 2008.
Mercede Johnston, Levi's sister, told TV's "Inside Edition" in an interview to air Thursday that her family found out about the engagement through the media.

Los Angeles -- Kevin Costner's publicist said the actor-director's wife, Christine, has given birth in Los Angeles to a daughter they named Grace Avery Costner.
"Both mother and daughter are doing well," Costner's representative said in a statement issued to E! News Wednesday.
The couple, who married in 2004, also have two sons together, and Costner has four children from previous relationships.

Los Angeles -- Amy Adams' publicist has confirmed the actress gave birth in Los Angeles to her first child, a daughter she named Aviana Olea Legallo.
he baby was born Saturday, People.com reported Monday.
The child is the first for Adams and her fiance, actor and artist Darren Legallo.
"Mom and baby are home and doing great," Adams' representative told the Web site. "Everyone's healthy and happy."
Adams, 35, has starred in the films "Enchanted," "Doubt" and "Julie and Julia."

Los Angeles -- Michael Jackson's heartbroken 11-year-old daughter described the late pop star as the "best father" at his memorial service in Los Angeles Tuesday.
The singer's three children were seldom seen in public without masks or disguises during his lifetime.
Paris, Jackson's middle child and only daughter, took the microphone at the end of his memorial at the Staples Center and tearfully told the assembled crowd: "Ever since I was born, my daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just wanted to say I love him so much."
The child spoke from the stage above where the casket bearing her father's body stood.
Jackson is also survived by his 12-year-old son Prince Michael and 7-year-old son Prince Michael II.
