Ad offers free baby-sitting as punishment

Southlake, Texas -- The parents of a Texas 16-year-old caught violating her curfew took out a newspaper ad offering their daughter's services as a free baby sitter.

Wendy Rausch of Southlake, 16-year-old Kirstin Rausch's stepmother, said her husband came up with the 30 hours of free baby-sitting scheme after Kristin was caught with friends out later at night than allowed, the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram reported Friday.

"We wanted her to make it up with community service," Wendy Rausch said. "My husband got the idea from a situation he encountered at work that people like free labor."

Giants' hero Bobby Thomson dies at 86

Savannah, Ga. -- New York Giants outfielder Bobby Thomson, whose 1951 home run was known as the "Shot Heard 'Round the World," has died in Georgia, his daughter said. He was 86.

Megan Thomson Armstrong said her father -- whose blast at New York's Polo Grounds gave the Giants the 1951 pennant -- died peacefully Monday night at his home in Savannah, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

She told the newspaper Thomson had been in ill health recently and had suffered a fall.

Thomson, who hit 264 homers in a 14-year career, was forever immortalized by the events of Oct. 3, 1951, when his ninth-inning home run in the final match of a three-game playoff series off Ralph Branca of the Brooklyn Dodgers capped a remarkable turnaround.

Zsa Zsa's going home from hospital

Los Angeles -- Zsa Zsa Gabor, 93, will be released from a Los Angeles hospital Monday following hip replacement surgery, her husband says.

However, husband Prince Frederic Von Anhalt, and her daughter, Francesca Hilton, disagree over her condition, People magazine reported Sunday.

"She is no different than she was from yesterday or the day before," said Hilton, who was at her mother's hospital bedside Saturday. She was awake watching TV and eating, Hilton said.

But Von Anhalt said his wife "went into shock" Saturday morning, which delayed her release from Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

Von Anhalt and Hilton have a stormy relationship and frequently disagree, the magazine reported.

Giuliani's daughter arrested for stealing cosmetics at Sephora

Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani’s daughter was arrested Wednesday for shoplifting in a Manhattan cosmetics store, according to several media reports.

Entertainer Mitch Miller dead at 99

New York -- Television and recording star Mitch Miller died at New York's Lenox Hill Hospital following a short illness, his daughter said. He was 99.

Miller, a Manhattan resident, died Saturday, his daughter Margaret Miller Reuther told The New York Times Monday.

The elder Miller was best known for his "Sing Along with Mitch" album series, which began in 1958 and catered to a crowd that preferred classic tunes like "Home on the Range," "That Old Gang of Mine" and "I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen."

The concept was adapted as a television show in 1961 and included lyrics to the songs at the bottom of the screen, with a bouncing ball for viewers to follow, the Times said.

Palin and Johnston break up again

Los Angeles -- Bristol Palin, the daughter of former U.S. vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, and her fiance, Levi Johnston, have split a second time, sources told E! News.

The sources said the breakup followed a fight between the Alaska natives over one of Johnston's ex-girlfriends, E! News reported.

The younger Palin, 19, and Johnston, 20, are the parents of a 19-month-old son named Tripp.

Neither Palin nor Johnston has publicly commented on the latest split, E! News said.

Johnston's mom wants in on Palin wedding

New York -- Levi Johnston's mother, Sherry, says it would kill her to be left off the guest list of Levi's wedding to Bristol Palin.

Johnston and Palin, the 19-year-old daughter of former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, recently told Us Weekly they are engaged again, but they don't have the blessings of their families.

Levi, 20, is the father of the younger Palin's 18-month-old son, Tripp. The couple called off a previous engagement shortly after the child was born in December 2008.

Mercede Johnston, Levi's sister, told TV's "Inside Edition" in an interview to air Thursday that her family found out about the engagement through the media.

Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former U.S. president Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, is all set to walk down the aisle later this month, according to multiple tabloid reports.

Costner's wife gives birth to daughter

Los Angeles -- Kevin Costner's publicist said the actor-director's wife, Christine, has given birth in Los Angeles to a daughter they named Grace Avery Costner.

"Both mother and daughter are doing well," Costner's representative said in a statement issued to E! News Wednesday.

The couple, who married in 2004, also have two sons together, and Costner has four children from previous relationships.

Amy Adams gives birth to a daughter

Los Angeles -- Amy Adams' publicist has confirmed the actress gave birth in Los Angeles to her first child, a daughter she named Aviana Olea Legallo.
he baby was born Saturday, People.com reported Monday.

The child is the first for Adams and her fiance, actor and artist Darren Legallo.
"Mom and baby are home and doing great," Adams' representative told the Web site. "Everyone's healthy and happy."

Adams, 35, has starred in the films "Enchanted," "Doubt" and "Julie and Julia."
