MLB: Cincinnati 3, Florida 2

Cincinnati, Sept. 18: Darnell McDonald homered during Cincinnati's three-run first Thursday and five pitchers made the lead stand up in a 3-2 decision over Florida.

Since the final day of August, Cincinnati has won seven in a row, lost five straight and now has won five out of six.

After McDonald opened the first inning with his home run against Anibal Sanchez (2-7), the Reds loaded the bases and Jay Bruce delivered a two-run single to shallow left.

Matt Maloney (1-4) gave up two runs over five innings to earn his first major league victory in his sixth start.

Ramon Ramirez, Arthur Rhodes, Nick Masset and Francisco Cordero then combined to throw four innings of one-hit relief. Cordero picked up his 38th save.

MLB: Cincinnati 4, Pittsburgh 3 (1st game)

Cincinnati -- Darnell McDonald scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth Monday and the Cincinnati Reds beat Pittsburgh 4-3 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Jesse Chavez (0-4) came on for the Pirates in the bottom of the ninth and gave up back-to-back one-out singles to McDonald and Craig Tatum. McDonald went to third on a fly out and slid safely into home when Chavez unloaded a wild pitch.

Drew Stubbs had a solo homer and scored two runs, and Drew Sutton and Scott Rolen each drove in a run for the Reds.

Cincinnati starter Kip Wells allowed two runs on two hits with four walks in six innings. Nick Masset (5-1) pitched a scoreless ninth to get the win.

MLB: Cincinnati 4, Milwaukee 3

Milwaukee, Aug. 27: Darnell McDonald doubled home Craig Tatum with two away in the 10th inning Wednesday, lifting the Cincinnati Reds to a 4-3 victory over Milwaukee.

Cincinnati has put together its first three-game winning streak in three months.

Milwaukee took a 3-2 lead in the fifth on a solo homer by Jody Gerut and a two-run shot by Prince Fielder, but Cincinnati tied it in the eighth with the help of one of three errors committed by the Brewers.

With one out in the eighth, Kevin Barker reached first safely and Scott Rolen scored from third on a throwing error by pitcher Claudio Vargas.

The loss went to Mike Burns (3-5), who gave up the double to McDonald in the 10th.
