NHL: San Jose 4, Edmonton 3

Edmonton, Alberta -- Dany Heatley scored two goals and added an assist Saturday, spearheading the San Jose Sharks' 4-3 decision over Edmonton.

Heatley tallied twice in the second period, one of them on a power play, and assisted on Joe Pavelski's third-period marker, which turned out to be the decisive score.

Antero Niittymaki turned aside 22-of-25 shots but had to survive a rough third period when the Oilers scored twice during a 13-shot assault. But he hung on to secure only the first win in seven road games for San Jose.

Shawn Horcoff and Jim Vandemeer found the net late in the game but Edmonton came up short and lost for the sixth time in eight home contests.

NHL: San Jose 6, Los Angeles 3

San Jose, Calif. -- Patrick Marleau and Dany Heatley scored third-period goals Monday and the San Jose Sharks posted a 6-3 victory over Los Angeles.

Marleau's power-play goal 2:39 into the final frame with Matt Greene off on an interference call put San Jose up 4-2, but Jarret Stoll drew the Kings to within a goal again at 7:06.

San Jose iced the game 43 seconds later when Heatley scored for a 5-3 advantage.

Joe Pavelski, Ryane Clowe, Torrey Mitchell and Scott Nichol also scored and Antero Niittymaki stopped 32-of-35 shots for the Sharks, who won their third straight and fourth in five games.

Ryan Smyth and Scott Parse added goals for Los Angeles and Jonathan Bernier made 28 saves in the Kings' defeat.

NHL: San Jose 5, Anaheim 2

San Jose, Calif. -- Dany Heatley put in a pair of goals and assisted on another Saturday, boosting the San Jose Sharks to a 5-2 decision over Anaheim.

Joe Thornton chipped in with three assists and Antero Niittymaki made 22 saves for the Sharks, who won for the fourth time in five games, scoring 20 goals in the process.

San Jose beat Anaheim for the sixth time in seven meetings stretching back to last season.

Curtis McElhinney was lit up for five goals on 41 shots for the Ducks, who got third-period goals from Ryan Getzlaff and Corey Perry.

NHL: San Jose 2, Los Angeles 1 (SO)

San Jose, Calif. -- Dany Heatley and Ryane Clowe scored during a six-round shootout Wednesday, bringing the San Jose Sharks a 2-1 victory over Los Angeles.

San Jose moved into a tie with the Kings for the top spot in the Pacific Division.

Jonathan Quick of the Kings and Evgeni Nabokov of the Sharks both gave up a goal in the second period and were otherwise perfect until the shootout.

Michal Handzus scored for Los Angeles to open the shootout and Heatley kept the Sharks alive with a goal in the third round. After two misses for each side, Clowe produced the game-winner.

The Sharks captured their third straight win and ended a four-game Los Angeles winning streak. It was the first overtime loss of the year for the Kings.

NHL: San Jose 6, Columbus 3

San Jose, Calif., Oct. 9: Dany Heatley scored two of San Jose's four second-period goals Thursday and finished with a hat trick, pacing the Sharks to a 6-3 victory over Columbus.

The loss by the Blue Jackets left Calgary (4-0) and Atlanta (2-0) as the NHL's only unbeaten teams just a week into the season.

Heatley gave San Jose a 2-1 lead 5:40 into the second period and also scored with 12 seconds left in the stanza to make it 4-2. He added a shorthanded goal 7:08 into the closing period.

Heatley has four goals in four games.

Evgeni Nabokov got the win, stopping 20-of-23 shots.

Steve Mason was removed from the contest after allowing five goals on 20 shots.

Mathieu Garon faced six shots the rest of the way and gave up only Heatley's final goal.
