NHL: Florida 4, Tampa Bay 3 (SO)

Tampa, Fla. -- Stephen Weiss found the net in the fourth round of a shootout Saturday, completing the Florida Panthers' 4-3 comeback win over Tampa Bay.

Panthers snapped a three-game losing streak after rebounding from a 2-0 deficit midway through the game. Radek Dvorak, Dmitry Kulikov and Shawn Matthias scored three straight goals to give Florida a 3-2 lead 8:31 into the final period.

But Sean Bergenheim tied the score at 3-3 with less than 6 minutes left to force a scoreless overtime and then the shootout.

Tomas Vokoun allowed three goals on 37 shots but came up big in the shootout, stopping Martin St. Louis's bid to extend the contest with a tough wrist shot.

NHL: Tampa Bay 3, Phoenix 0

Glendale, Ariz. -- Dan Ellis turned in his first shutout of the season Saturday, stopping 23 shots in the Tampa Bay Lightning's 3-0 win over Phoenix.

Ellis's busiest period was the third, during which he turned aside all 10 Phoenix shots he faced and helped Tampa Bay win the first contest of a four-game road trip.

The Lightning got goals from Mattias Ritola, Adam Hall and Steven Stamkos.

Ritola's first career goal on a second-period wrist shot turned out to be all the offense the Lightning would need.

Ilya Bryzgalov surrendered all three goals on 23 shots for the Coyotes.

The game was scoreless until 3:22 remained in the second period. That's when Bouillon scored on a blast from the point. Franson scored less than 5 minutes into the third for a 2-0 Nashville edge.

NHL: Chicago 3, Nashville 1

Nashville, Oct. 16: Dustin Byfuglien and Tomas Kopecky scored 28 seconds apart in the second period Thursday and Chicago gave up just 13 shots in downing Nashville 3-1.

After winning their first two games of the season, the Predators have lost four in a row. They have scored only two goals in those four contests.

Chicago has won four straight to take the early lead in the Central Division.

Byfuglien scored the game's first goal on the power play 2:21 into the second.

Kopckye tallied moments later after Nashville turned the puck over behind its own net.

Cristobal Huet needed to make only 12 saves for the victory. Pekka Rinne stopped 27-of-30 shots for Nashville. Chicago's Patrick Sharp had a six-game point streak snapped.
