Clooney appearance halts Italian trial

Milan, Italy -- George Clooney's appearance in an Italian courtroom halted a fraud trial in which he was giving evidence, authorities said.

Fans of the 49-year-old actor crowded into the courtroom to catch a glimpse of the star, battling with extra police called in to keep the growing crowd of mostly middle-aged women under control, Sky News reported Saturday.

The judge had to call for order several times and finally halted the Milan trial because of noise and photos from a gallery packed with Clooney admirers, The Mirror reported.
